small joystick mod for tilt and pan?

hi just seen a video of someone online who used an old transmitters joysick then wired it up to work for his pan and tilt camera mount. just wondering if anyone knows how to wire it up cause i am confused?

With a Futaba 9, in the menus you can go into a deeper configuration mode, this enables you to change any of the transmitters inputs to be changed instantly. The reason was for different models of transmitter you may need more or less knobs, more 3 position switches than normal etc. So instead of making different boards for each type, they made one board and made the channels assignable.

In this case, he went into the transmitter, swapped two switch channels for the gimbals ( joystick ) then went into the engineer menu and assigned gimbals not switches to that channel.

Job done :)

To do what Ian here is talking about, on both the Futaba 9C and 10C series tranny, you go into the AUX-CH menu on the 'Basic' menu, which just sets up the soft-switches.

I think this guy wired the 3 wires from each additional axis potentiometer to 2 quick connect, 'stereo' jack plugs/sockets which are wired to the vrA and vrB rotary controls inside.

I have yet to get around to doing this mod as I have an additional pair of Futaba sticks.

If you do go for it, make sure you use Futaba sticks to maintain the best compatibility on resistances of components.
