DJI 550 finally re-built/updated and ready to have a bit of fun with.

Main flight controller is Naza updated to V2 latest firmware. Transmtter is a Taranis with an 8XR receiver (Sbus connection).

It now has full FPV with Eagletree OSD, Retracts, uprated to 4s, new upgraded motors, RCTimer three axis brushless gimbal with one of my Desire RC manufactured Alexmos 32bit 3 axis controllers, camera switcher between FPV and GoPro - oh and my spare GoPro 3 Black.

Just need some better weather now!

Looks good. Have you used it with the camera switcher? If yes, is it that useful and do you use it much? I was considering a 2 camera setup on my 450 with a switcher but not sure yet. at the moment its just going to be a feed from my gopro on the Gimble.

If you are planning to do some FPV, then imho you ought to be using and FPV camera not the Gopro. I like the option of being able to switch between the FPV cam and my "filming" camera just so that I can make sure the shots are well framed. I only feed the OSD stuff to the FPV cam (I dont need to see it in the go pro view).

The other way of using a switcher (mine can take 3 camera inputs) is to hook it up to a front and back camera or one that looks ahead and one that looks down, quite a cool effect but it can do you head in a bit when flying FPV!

Also, i will connect my RX (when it arrives) to the Naza V2 using the s-bus port. Do you know where I would connect the receiver end of the video switcher. Haven't figured out this S-Bus business yet but I read it should give me 8 channels. Now im wodering if this is only 8 channels to the Naza and no external units?? (?)

Assuming you can't rig it to the naza gimbal outputs as some folk do to switch lights etc, then you will either need to connect it directly to the receiver on the relevant channel or if you are just using something like the DR4 then you will need to put a 'Y' lead on the SBUS output and connect one to your naza and the other to an SBUS-to-PWM adapter thingy. FrSky do a four-channel programmable one that works well. You can choose the channels that the adapter outputs, so it can be any four of channels one to eight (possible 12)

Ah, well thats easy. Your Naza will consume channels 1 to 4 for your motors and 5 & 6 for remote gain adjust and/or gimbal leaving you with channels 7 and 8 free. Tho of course that is a 16 channel receiver so technically, you have 9 to 16 available too thru an sbus/pwm adapter.

Anyhow, if you are using the gimbal/remote gain, then connect your video switch to channel 7 or 8 on the receiver otherwise use a channel from 5,6,7 or 8. Connect it directly to the receiver, using the sbus output won't disable the individual channel pins.

Looks good. Im going to pull out my dji 450 and try a naza32 mounted on antivibration mount.

Looks good Simon, haven't seen much of your flying lately, hope this brings some new videos onto the forum from you :)
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Just remember to bind the RX as a 1-16. 1-8 are then on S-Bus So AETR and any others ( I have X1 for gimbal rotate on there too) and Channel 16 is set for video switch so that is on Number 8 (Ch16) on the RX. Fix for FPV and NEX gives me GoPro.
