No its ready to go, I live in London, so I cant rely fly it hear, perhaps up on the Black heath, but there's always massive wind surfing kites flying around. I will have to what till I get out to try it, I think we need a new FPV meeting, so I can test it out, any one fancies arranging that. :laugh:

I have made a slit mistake with this build, I flew it today FPV, it was pretty windy, and some times when I terned in to the wind the response was non existent, I nearly losed it twice.
The problem is the size off the ailerons, ther to small, I'm going to have to lengthen them.

To get good repose from the ez with ailerons is to have them as close to the tips as possible and a fair size. The dyhedral built into the wings means you need more effect to have the same control

Ive never flown a plane with dihedral built into the wings before. I'm going to cut the ailerons out and make them twice the size.
After flying the Mini Skywalker, which is a peach to fly, I keep thinking I should strip the Easy star out and get the Big Skywalker.
I suppose I should give this one a chan's first.

Has eny one else had problems with the ailerons on a Ease Star?
I'm beginning to wonder whether its the flex of the wings, when the wined gets under this plane, even with the glass rode in the wings, thay bend like a banana, a hinged aileron doesn't like bends, and won't work, and could burn out the servo.
I will try this mod, if its still the same, and I get it back safe, I will place a 8mm carbon tube in the wings.

All I can think of is similar to what you have already suggested.

make a slit in the wing just an inch longer either side than the aileron itself and put the rod there, rather than the whole wing. You'll want to retain the Dihedral, so having 2 seperate rods near each aileron will keep the wing directly ahead of the aileron straight, while the rest of the wing is allowed to flex as normal.

I had this problem with my scratchbuilts, I deliberately put dihedral into the wing and held it there with spars supported on the fuselage, but the perma-bent wing meant that my packing tape hinged ailerons were next to useless and would pop up or down when the servo was at full extent either side. not ideal for steady slow gradual movements.

I have to use 2 rods the wings come in 2 halves, I was thinking of the length of the rod being just over the length of the ailerons, but their pretty long.
I was more interested in if anyone else with a Ease Star had experienced this problem.
I will tape a key camera to the plan facing the ailerons and see what's going on.

The first ailerons i did were twice as wide as yours G, but had less effect than my mates who were as wide as yours but near the wing tips. His worked much more effectivly. The further out they are the more the effect. Thats why flaps are always on the inside and ailerons the tips

like I say, if this is no good, then I will get a Skywalker, I have a lot of extra weight in this bird, making it a bit heavy. and that's without a gopro added to the mix

Hi all,
The problem was that the wing was bending the hinge on the aileron, stopping it from working properly.
I have included a 8mm carbon tube running parallel to the aileron, I then covered with woven tape, gave it a test flight, and was amazed with the difference, its now rely responsive and a joy to fly. I'm waiting for some Clover antennas, and a nice day to jump on a train and get her out of London for a advencher
