FY31AP freaking out on an RTL run.

I was 2.6km out today and pretty high up when I flicked RTL and my FY went doolally, it behaved like it was in ACM mode eventually after scrubbing off altitude it headed home ok? I was starting to need new pants!!

It was like it kept over correcting the home path? Is this common I've never seen it behave like it before :|

Yep mine has done that before and did the same as you and cacked my pants  :laugh: :laugh:

Its because your P value is too high in your settings.

You can either :

1) Drop your roll gain and loose some stabilization or

2) USB the FY31AP to your PC, load the GSC software and drop roll P value to around half of what it is ( 50 ) which is a much better idea. Then you keep the great stability and get super smooth RTH, instead of over correcting it will slowly turn and point straight to home.

I dont suppose the extra weight of my gopro/cam could be messing with my FY and causing my 'flutter' issues?

I've knocked the Roll angle down to 30 (is this the right value? ) and I'll give it a test on saturday :)

Yes that`s the one, you will find its much less aggressive now, if its too "relaxed" for you increase to 35

Well with the new values the stabilisation doesn't seem so aggressive and the RTL worked fine but I haven't tested it at range :)
