I always thought a HOBBY SHOULD BE FUN ;D
It still is for me  ;)

dizzy :)

Spot on Dizzy, unfortunately one persons fun is another persons hell.

I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiment and I do believe that the way forward is to keep under the radar OR comply and try to be squeaky clean.

I must declare that I am getting too long in the tooth to want to be hauled up in front of a magistrate or worse, a circuit judge in a Crown Court and have whats left of my life ruined by a criminal conviction and all that goes with it. I also detest being over legislated, CCTV cameras every where that do no good to me personally and dont deter the scrotes that have nothing to lose but catch us normal folk who play by the rules, register to vote, pay council tax, income tax, have insurance etc etc.  We are the easy ones to catch aren't we?  So is it any wonder that I read this, sit back and ask myself "Do I want to carry on with an activity I really enjoy every aspect of, the experimenting, the setting up, modding, building and the flying and risk the nick or sell all the small fortune of kit now before the market gets flooded"?

But I dont agree that this is all about "drones" ( Kripes how I detest that word!!!) and the extra legislation will not be about FPV alone. It will be about UAV's as well.  That is why the LMA and BMFA and BARCS and FPVUK are all in on the ground floor of this consultation.  In the article you will see that the author was able to educate a few of the so called experts on the facts as they stand right now. We always said the definition of an Expert was X the unknown factor and Spurt was a drip under pressure!

I dont believe the majority of RC pilots go out with the solid intention of causing mayhem, certainly not in the club environment.  But its the ones that do do stupid things like fly round Alton Towers and Blackpool Tower and Big Ben and the Humber Bridge and then put the stupid video on You Tube.  They are the minority but that is not the perception of the ignorant General Public.

There isn't an exemption for multis, there is an exemption from the line of sight requirement for aircraft of below 3.5kg flown using FPV techniques in unrestricted airspace, subject to conditions, spotter, 100ft max altitude etc.
