How to fix a UFL connector

Just thought I'd run this one past the hub collective to check I'm on the right lines here.  An interesting time for me this morning where I'm trying to compare a bunch of antennas.  On my first lipo I take a crash into some trees and the little dipole that used a UFL connector dissapeared, so I had to switch to my backup quad.

This was all ok until I wanted to change the type of antenna it had on it, I litfed up the dipole and basically the other bit of the UFL connector came with it.  Basically the little circle part that was on the board was gone and is still in the dipole.





I don't know (and don't think) this is fixable in the normal sense, but figured I could hard solder something in if necessary.  I'm assuming the inner pin is the active antenna part and the circular part is the ground.  Looking at the board - are the two pars either side of the pin ground connections - in which case could I just cludge something together using that.

Any recommendations ?

Could I just ignore the UFL, strip a bit of wire from the dipole and solder antenna to pin and the shielding to the grounds ?

Yes you could do that  as an option.

I have some of those SMD UFL connectors in my box of shite. PM me your address and I'll pop one in the post if you want to go down the fix it route.

Get a UFL pigtail and solder the cable end directly to the pcb.
