Well, after watching the FliteTest episodes with an H-Quad I decided I really liked them so I'd have a go at building it using my tricopter as a sacrifice.

Main Parts:
1 x strip of laminate wood flooring cut to size ;D
2 x bits of scrap pine 10x10mm wood for arms, hotglued to the laminate flooring ;D
4 x E-Power GF2215 950kv motors from the large trout
4 x ESCs, 3 of which match
4 x CF 10x4.5 props from UAVshop.co.uk (excellent service) and nice props they are too
KKBoard v2.1 using QuadControl 4.7 firmware
35MHz control
1000mAh 3 cell battery (6 minutes flight time)

Here is the maiden, never flown before, flight:

Very nice Steve. Good simple design, they can't come much cheaper to build either.

With my FPV gear installed, I'm down to 4 minutes 20 seconds :( Gonna have to look at other batteries.

Wow.That looks great!.

Makes me think I should have a go at a copter. Doesnt look too expensive either.

Its quite small too. You can fly that pretty much anywhere.

Impressed!

cool steve, I'm going to knock up an H frame later and have a play.

FPVSteve

Cheers guys,

I suppose the main advantage of an H frame is that you can adjust the CG a lot, while still having plenty of room for gear - not just a small central hub like most copters.

Pasty

thats pretty much the only benefit for me, being able to get gear up front (i.e. hd camera with no props in shot) yet still be able to balance it effectively.

I'm going o naturel as you have steve, some ply, pine and an evenings work will have her flying.
