Multiplex Royal Evo PPM out help

Acquired a used Royal Evo 9. Its been updated firmware V3.41 and has a M-Link 2.4g module fitted.

I'm needing the PPM out. Is it normal to use the Din plug connection for this?

I have a note of the earlier Evo/Royal pinouts BUT! It seems there may be an issue of the PPM stream being removed with later firmwares. Also being fitted with an M-Link 2.4g module does it cause any problems.

You need firmware V 2.62 installed for PPM out, all older firmwares had it removed.

Your data manager will only let you upload the same or higher version software to the Royal, so it wouldn`t work. Its an easy fix though, you rename the V 2.62 file to the V 3.41 you are on now and it will install it ;)

I'll have to get a data cable I guess to do this now LOL. Nothing ever happens in a hurry with FPV gear!

I'm struggling. Have the data cable working but cant get it to see the firmware update even when re-named to V3.41
There seems to be 2 versions of the Multiplex loaders. The earlier one is called RoyalPro Data Manager and would normally be used with 2.62 firmware. The newer is Multiplex Launcher. Tried both but neither 'see' the re-named file or can re-install v3.41.

I'm guessing.. but It seems it can only update to a later version than 3.41 (think 3.46 is latest)

Anyways I'm stumped. I have read the PPM stream is possibly still available at the Din trainer socket even though its removed going to the Tx module itself. Just wondering if this is an option and can it cope with the load of drawing current over a prolonged period. I'm crap with anything electrical which doesn't help.

Looking at Thomas Scherriers website it still lists the Din connections for his LRS via the trainer socket. Am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Hi all,
I too am on a quest to convert an Evo9 to Frsky.

Iceman, did you get to the bottom of how to make this conversion?, I have to say that I don't normaly delve into the back of my Tx' so I need an eeedjits guide.

Any and all suggestions welcomed.
