QuoteThen why record

Well Dave, does every vid have to be for public view? I like the idea of being able to review my flights and familiarise myself with those surroundings as I find it pretty difficult to navigate still. I like to see my altitude, speed, distances etc, as mostly when I'm flying I'm concentrating on the view and the 'way home' indicator. I often find I can't read the telemetry in the periphery of my screen cos I might have runny eyes, or because I normally wear specs... What Ever..

I record my OSD too but on the ground where it's important so I can work out where my flying piece of expensive polystyrene was heading before it metamorphosised into a brick :D

There are loads of reasons to want to record the OSD on the plane:

Quality
No need for ground station
Autonomous flying (waypoints)
just for the hell of it

Just because you can't see the point, doesn't mean others can't.....

I'm disappointed at how this thread has turned out.... I asked a general question about some kit, I didn't ask people to berate me for wanting to do something...it's a shame.

Thanks for the input guys...

Opinions aside, are you going to try the product you linked to originally... looks like the lightest way of doing things ?

.......Ah soz mate.... yeah, looks exactly as it does on the tin. Comes with 4 leads to make up. Bit bigger than I'd expected but will fit onboard ok I'm sure. no manuel with it so I guess I'll have to ref an online vid or something. I'll try and get it working shortly.. I may need help..

Cool, so decent build quality, fairly straight forward then. No reason so far for it not to perform

Hey, yeah, it may be straightforward to you guys but a little confusion here.... all the supplied leads are 3 wires whereas all my OSD wiring is 4 wires....hmmm.

Hey, been doing lots of LOS filming and have not got round to fitting this vcr onboard yet. Some advice on how to wire it in would be good, as as you can see, the vcr leads are all 3 wire, whereas the osd leads are 5 wire. I was going to chop into the osd  lead and solder in the vcr plugs, bypassing the vcr with 2 leads... but which leads to leave me with osd telemetry on the recording. Pics below. Any help much appreciated... thanks.

I'm presuming your using the ezosd.

The far left connector in the picture, use the yellow and black to go to your OSD 5 wire connector. yellow on recorder to yellow of OSD. Black on recorder to black of OSD. Red of recorder to green of OSD. This will then record the telemetry.

The next connector to it, yellow to yellow of vtx. Black to black of 5 pin vtx connector. Red to green of vtx 5 pin connector.
