I thought i'd start a dedicated thread to Hydrographic Printing as it is something i was playing with getting various results while badgering FPVHub members to send me something to practice on!  I did some equipment mods, ground station and also printed my mini 250 but the topic is split and dedicated to those individual threads. So in order to best consolidate, water printing is here.

What is it:
Water Transfer Printing - Hydrographics - Wassertransferdruck Process | HG Arts (www.hgarts.com)

The effect:

Carbon effect film on my 250 miniquad frame parts.

Assembled:

Taranis Case Mod

If you need anymore info on how to do it or want to have something done then drop me a PM or post here.  I'm still practicing my dipping methods so can do this at cost, time permitting as i'm snowed under with work of late.

I hope this proves beneficial to others for the purpose of modding.

I am a very happy owner of a new Taranis front cover from Tim, the finish is excellent, no burning, every bit of the print transferred well, very hard wearing finish.

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Ratty

They all look great. Well done.

Some more info on equip needed and how much a basic set up to get dipping would be great.

Also, what kind of prices are you charging to cover something? I guess it depends on size and shape, but rough prices just to give an idea would be enough.

MarkLloyd

Wow, amazing results.  I'd never even heard of it till now.  Will be following this thread with interest.

Wow these look fantastic.

I can see how this would become a problem though .. ever bought one of those "magnets on a stick" for retrieving spark plugs?? Well, I'm sure everything then became a target for being picked up.

I imagine this is the same - is the kettle dipped yet? The dog? How about next doors car??

1.  To get started you will need a tub of warm water to suit the size of the dip.  Some graphic film (£5 - £10 Sq meter).  Paints to suit (Primer, base colour and finishing coat) and a can of activator (say £10) and thats about it! Starter kits are available on ebay for around £50 if you really want to get an all in one package.

2.  As i'm still practicing - all i ask is that you purchase the graphic film and base coat and cover postage.  I have a couple of spare Taranis cases so i can dip and post so you don't have to go without your radio... as long as you send me your old taranis case back for someone else  ;)

Thanks GD. Interesting stuff. I can see myself getting a few parts done.

This and a 3D printer would be endless fun. Print it, dip it, repeat,  ;D

Dave

How cool is this!! :o

I can feel my wallet emptying in your direction as I type ;D

Are you going to do any Turnigy 9X cases or do you need 'one in stock' first?

Could you please PM me the price of tranny case as a guide, I may be able to put a few bits your way if you are interested ;)

Gundummy

Dave,
I can do anything as long as it can be dunked in water!  No i haven't got any Turnigy cases.  I bought a few Taranis cases simply to practice on.

Have you got one spare  ;)
