Not quite a rant but a well written observation I saw on last nights Top Gear.

Evans needs to realise he's hosting a show on Sunday nights on BBC Two and switch on his One Show/Radio 2 mode rather than the hitting the Big Breakfast/TFI Friday foghorn button and bellowing his way around the studio.

Meanwhile, LeBlanc should clearly be saved for the packages, challenges and road trips, because he's brilliant at them. But evidently. he's less comfortable with a live audience – he's an actor, not a presenter.

To which I would only add, let's start a fund to pay for someone to provoke Chris Evans into punching them too.

Couldn't bring myself to watch it, I thought it might be a little forced and I'd just be comparing them to "the trio". Sounds like it is now an "Aldi" version of the real deal.

I thought The Guardian were spot on by calling it a second hand car show.

I didn't think it really was that bad at all. Evans voice grated on me yes but it always has, Leblanc was great, really enjoyed his participation. It wasn't fantastic or mind blowing, but it wasn't crap either.

The only ones to really complain will be the Evans haters and the butt hurt C,H and M fans that cant get over it.
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Chris Evans has aged massively IMO over the last 10-15 years - the guy needs some sleep. It's no wonder he's so OTT all the time, he must be wired as hell on Red Bull

It's not like he needs to earn money any more either - if I was him I'd be kicking back on a nice beach in between driving my car collection. Why's he continuing to kill himself prematurely by burning the candle at both ends? Crazy.

That's how most 'showbiz' people are wired.

I was a huge fan of the old TG. I watched 10 mins of the new and turned it off. As Steve says, it was like a bad copy of the real thing.

I'm the same, I just tried to watch it on the iplayer... I was cringing for the whole 10 minutes I watched it for before turning it off.

I might watch the rest of it some other time, but I would have preferred a completely different format or something original as opposed to them just trying to make it the same program but with different people.

Thank jehova for Dave!

I thought it was just about exactly as crap as old Top Gear had got.  You sort of keep watching it because it promises to be entertaining but it's always just a bit tedious and so very bland, staid and safe, every bit of life went out of that show years ago.
