another 3 tips would be

launch it without throttle into long grass.  a very hard javelin throw by a friend is ideal. how does it glide? if the seems to glide ok- and land fairly flat- that's a good sign. if it noses like crazy it may be nose heavy.

have a friend launch it to begin with. that way you can concentrate on the controls.

final is, if possible, launch it from the top of a slight hill/incline. that way if it takes a bit of power to get up to speed and it loses a little hight it's less of an issue.

and fly with as light a battery as possible whilst still having the CG slightly nose heavy!!

Great I will take all the advice onboard, it will be a nervous launch but I will get the hang of it I'm sure, then one day have an fpv set up, that looks great flying the wing from a goggle view!

Hi Dazza,

I was a bit nervous about launching my venturi evo but all went well.  As said already, just give it plenty of throttle and a bold chuck.   I did mine ritewing style, but one thing I did find, it would have been useful to have a finger hole  or a  stuck on bit of something to push against on the underside. I find the plane slips from my grip mid-launch, but still always gets away ok.

It's a bit tricky at this time of year but if you can launch over vegetation or long grass that may help if things go wrong.....  but I'm sure it will all go ok !   :D

ps....   Also, set a bit of positive reflex on both elevons.

Start with an easier plane. A bixler, easy star or axn floater jet.

Your Venturi will be heavy, fast and intimidating. You will crash it plenty of times and it doesn't repair particularly easily.

By the time you're ready to get the most out of the Venturi- it will be so smashed up and not flying that well you will have to buy another!

Sound advice, my first plane was a Tek Sumo, which crashed on the first couple of launches. Then moved onto an EVO and now building a Vent II.

Build a crappy wing like a Tek Sumo to test out your gear / get a feel for a wing first.

I launch my wing like in this video. Pretty easy really and it keeps your hand clear of the blender on the back. If you can do it left handed you can fly it out of your hand.

I'm guessing a Venturi might be a bit heavy for my wing tip frisby method I use on my Falcon EVO  :P :

I wouldn't try a glide test with a fully loaded Vent. You won't be able to throw it hard enough, it will stall.

To be honest, if your CG of correct, your control surfaces move the correct way it will fly...

Give it some throttle and throw it, you will be fine its mostly foam it will bouce(ish) ;D

Yeah, make sure the elevons are set evenly, add a bit of up. Make sure it's balanced on its cg and left/right.

Thanks for all your advice, I will continue to build the Venturi 2 and also buy an easier to fly aircraft to get me back in, what would be a good radio and receiver set up, I was thinking of the spectrum 6 which a friend has but still not sure?

The Taranis. It's boring because pretty much everyone else has one, but there's a reason why; it's so versatile and bang for buck there's no radio to match it.
