If I use the same connectors on the wings I make one wire a male and one a female so I can't plug for example a servo into a Vtx.

Thanks jt, I just want to get as much from this skywalker as possible this summer. I've still got my patch antenna (although without AAT after the skyray incident) so I'm hoping to break my personal best of 5.5km at some point. I might be brave and aim for 10km but I have to assess each day as they come.

I have no doubts about the equipment being up to the task, it's all about weather and conditions on the day.

If your 1280mhz Patch is like mine, you wont need an AAT if you fly out and back again....5.5kms should be a walk in the park with an 800mw vtx..?

exactly mate... 5.5km was done with linear omnis, so I'm not worried about the equipment. It's my methods that will have to change. I will need to make sure I'm out and back in the same direction. The conditions have to be pretty much zero wind to make that easier for me.

on my 5.5km run, I was following the compass rose on my OSD, keeping the plane pointing NE. (Vector's geofence was set to 5.5km so couldn't go further if I wanted to).

Once I turned round and pointed the plane towards home using the home arrow, by the time I got back to the flying field I was approaching from a completely different direction to what I'd taken off, by about 90 degrees.

I suppose the easiest way to do an out and back is to try and fly dead into wind....So, point the plane and take note of the heading on the compass before launch.....Dont know about the Vector, but doesnt it have a heading lock like PA Mode on the Cyclops..?..Pick an object on the horizon is another way of doing the same thing..?...Looking forward to flying my SW soon...:)

I've got MFD AP in this one, not sure it has a heading hold mode... but the Vector didn't like doing heading hold with my last plane because it meant having to fly with a permanent tilt in the roll axis to fly straight lol

I always aim to do my range flights into wind anyway, but this being lovely ol' blighty... the wind can change at the drop of a hat

Lol...yes...of course..wind changes...Is the MFD a 3 axis giro..?...IE one on the rudder..?..Using the rudder is the way to avoid flying with wings on a permanent angle...when using heading lock Mode....Depends how its programmed, but Rudder on a plane like the SW1900 is the way to go...It would be the same for example if you could somehow flip a mix switch and simply add in the rudder to the ailerons while heading lock is engaged...and let the rudder do the hard work of maintaining a constant heading...?...If the cross wind is strong, there will always be an element of drift, because our APs do simple point to point navigation...

It does. I think its ALT mode that fixed altitude and heading :)

Is it not a bad move to be moving to MFD? From everything I've heard, Charles isn't exactly the most reliable person in the world when it comes to support and if he's busy on other projects what's stopping MFD from becoming obsolete or dead in the water?

Just seems a shame to invest in so much kit with a dead-end supplier.
