A few pictures of my Scratch builds from Flite Test and Experimental Airlines plus one of my custom designs. Any questions about the builds don't hesitate to ask. All builds were done using UK foam board and different coving techniques.

Do you have links?

Love to have a go at the blunt nose and canard.

The problem I have is my local model shop's stock of Depron is always slightly bent!!

Where do you get the foam board from?

Thank you.

Mark.

Hi Mark

heres the build video links for the blunt nose, you will need to follow the versa wing build to the point were the 2 wings are to be joined.

I order all my foam board from eBay , can be a little pricey but goes along way , heres a link but shop around to find the best deals buddy. I use A1 5mm sheets, only difference when working with UK foam board is when you remove paper you need to heat it before you can peal it off.

HI , nice models , I like the peace drone canards   too doing one myself . Also get F board from  ebay ,seems the only place but the paper won't come off will it . You say you heat it  , how do you do that ?
Does it come of in bits ?

Hi Graham, The APD is an awesome flying airframe and looks fantastic in the air as its a backwards flying plane lol. The UK foam board requires a bit more work to build with but is much stronger. I heat mine using a heat gun but you have to be very careful not to melt the foam, i recon a hair dryer would be much safer but I've never tried one. The UK foam board paper once heated comes of very easy and doesn't rip when peeling it, i tend to start at a corner , hit it with some heat and then peel it back a little, once you feel a little resistance fire up the heat gun again and keep heating in front of were your peeling off taking care not to melt the foam.If you accidentally lift paper that you do not intend to peel just add a little pressure on top off it and it will re-stick. Sounds complicated but is very easy to do. hope that helps and any further questions don't hesitate to ask buddy!

Cheers....Aaron

How do you get depron to bend? The stuff I have will break before it bends (and it's not paper backed. Is that necessary?).

FPVSteve

You can put tape on the outer side beforehand then just form it :)

It may also help to cut out a relief on the inner side so that it can fold onto itself without squashing,

Hi Matt

It's done the same way Steve W said, tape outer side of the foam and then score cut the inside line you wish to bend. Watch the links i posted above a few days ago on the versa wing build as it shows you a lot of great building tips, heres another link on how to tape the foam for an A1 finish ....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbyVGfB1oCg .

You can also solarfilm cover foam but be careful not to melt the foam when applying heat.

Hope that helps buddy

Cheers...Aaron

Thanks Aaron. I recently made an fpv49 out of depron and that got the packing tape treatment!
