Fat lads can fly

Maidened mine today, with the help of my wingman, cheers mate.Went pretty uneventfully, apart from my multirotor Rctimer esc started overheating despite low amp draw and wouldn1t give me more than 6a power.
Still it flew, and was able to do a bit of testing and confidence building :)

I love the way your blurry bit that's meant to cover your co-ordinates just makes its way around the screen exposing the stuff you want to hide

No flying for me today so I had another go on the Talon, just wondered what throws are being used on the control surfaces? She balances just nose down at 76mm, this is the factory CG point, any views on this ?
Not a million miles to go now, the pic's   :flying:

I've just got back from the garage/workshop where I've been busy putting in a downward facing camera on the Mini Talon. I've hot glued an old board cam I had lying around into the hole on the underside of the fuselage just aft of the "step" (I'm assuming this step is designed with some sort of catapult system in mind).

The wiring was simple:

1. Connect the Hobbyking 3 channel FPV cam switcher to the CAMERA-IN port on the vector
2. Plug the 2 cameras into the switcher module ports 1 and 3 (equates to switch HIGH and LOW, port 2 would be switch MID but I only have a 2 pos switch available)
3. Connect the switcher to my EzUHF receiver
4. Create a mix on my TX

Should make for some interesting views I hope:

Is that an 800mw 1.3 vtx on the front there?  I was thinking of having a similar set up with vtx on the front receiver at the back but...  I flew out to 5km this morning @90 metres in my TwinThing.  Video was fine but when I turned back as soon as the vtx was between me and the receiver the plane went in to failsafe.  I'm now wondering if I need to stick the wings on and put the VTX on one side with the receiver on the other  :(

For me personally it just looks so out of proportion it should fly like a bag of crap. However we all know they fly really well. Should make a nice plane :)
When you look at the model... it's really a flying wing.

It even has a reflexed wing section .   :)

After looking at my osd footage I was anyway seeing some big drops in RSSI before I turned back so it wasn't entirely the fault of the vtx being on the front of the plane. I also only have a monopole on the receiver currently do a full dipole would help

Almost got mine ready to maiden now.  I've gone for an Arctic Camouflage colour scheme (also know as bare white foam).  Mainly because I can't be bothered to figure out a cool paint job or similar.  I may attack it graffiti style with a sharpie marker and some rattle cans, but we shall see.

I've also gone for a fixed flight cam, and a fixed gopro cam mount for now.  I may replace it for a pan/tilt cam mount int he future, but for now, simple is good.

Just got to get my head round the vector setup now, before the maiden on thursday...

Andy, Vector is straight forward enough. The manual can be a bit daunting the first time but a lot of it you can skip over. I've not used a plane with v-tail on the Vector before so that might have some quirks!  :D

My top tip would be to make sure you have the plane configured, servo direction etc then run the rc wizard. If you change any settings in your radio after running the wizard you will need to go through the wizard again.

I thought it was a disease all the talons had caught lol....

mines aux natural....(I'm lazy lol)

To be fair the Red White and Blue are really easy to spot for formation flying, a white airframe is not so easy.
