The standard settings on the apm is to take its height from the Baro as Gps is notoriously unreliable in that area.
You could change one of your flight modes to cruise as that holds altitude for you.

I would also reflash the firmware on the OSD, maybe that is playing up.

  Hi Lola,

Yes, it's odd how it has a stable altitude inside MP..?..Is Cruise Mode like Stab but with altitude hold then? I like the sound of that.

I think you may be right, I think it's an OSD related problem.  I will try a FW re-flash on the Minim, nowt to lose...:)

Do you know where I can get a rotary Pot for my Taranis with six indented positions on it?...I assume I could take off a 3 posn switch and substitute a Pot maybe..?....Be perfect for having 6 Flight Modes.

It looks like BlueFlyer was right after all...:)....... :thanx!:

It got me thinking, so I simply unplugged the GPS and compass from the APM......Now, it boots up and stays on zero to 1 mtr altitude as it should do.....but if I re-connect the GPS puck, after it finds a few Sats....it adjusts the altitude into error....:(

The Alt parameter is set to 1, so it should always use the Baro, and ignore the GPS...?...Clearly, it isn't?

So, where to look in the Parameter list?......

Update...:

After re-flashing the Firmware and Character set on the Minim, the problem remains.....As soon as it sees enough Sats it resets the altitude from zero to some random figure anywhere between +20 to +30 mtrs. I even followed dmercs instruction regarding the Minim setup exactly, so it must be something to do with it being an APM Pro perhaps?

Strangely, if I run the APM from USB power only inside Mission Planner, the Altimeter behaves itself sitting at between zero and 1.5mtrs even when the Sats all log in....weird.

On the face of it, it would appear that it decides to use Sat calculated altitude when the Sats are present, but only when viewed through the Minim OSD.

Other than this, it appears to be working as it should including Link Quality.....I could easily fly it as it is, but would really like to fix it...... (?)......Ideas Welcome.

UPDATE:

"Problem" Solved....:)......... :dancing2:

It must be an age thing, that's my excuse anyway...lol.......

The APM uses two Altitude references:

MSL = Metres (above) Sea Level....I assume a Sat calculated altitude.

HA = Home Altitude...which is onboard Barometer derived.

On the Minim you can elect to have both showing or either one.....Mr Magoo here didn't notice did he..

Its working perfectly now so far......I need a lie down now....:)

I'm glad I got you looking in the right place for you to fix it yourself :)

Cheers Bud...

Yes, it's embarrassing isn't it...lol....I spotted it watching Bill Halleys live downlink and noticed he had two altitudes showing on his OSD....WTF..?
  Then I twigged it...lol
I even have the onboard temp working now....bonkers...I think its reporting APM PCB temperature.

Its just too complex for its own good....lol.....It seems to be working though....:)

Well done that man! Blue pointed you in the right direction.

I´ve got both ASL and HA on my minim and that never occured to me that you also had both lol.

I´ve just changed over to the Alce OSD which is a graphical overlay, looks fantastic.

Hi Lola,

Yes, bonkers eh..:)...In the Minim I had selected "Altitude"..Only....but not Home Altitude...So, as soon as the Sats came online, it stopped reporting Baro...and started reporting "Altitude"...Only....which is Sat derived HASL...!!!...Now had they labelled it as "Sat Altitude"  instead, I may have spotted it sooner....My experience with Software engineers, is that they rarely call a Spade a Spade....I should have known better...lol....Anyway, its fun learning and if I can just get it to work in a basic way, Im going to be really pleased...The Minim looks great on my Monitor.
