I also use these 200mW 1G3 transmitters and am very happy with em. With a clover on tx and cpatch on rx 10km are easy. With a clover on the rx you can also do easy 5km.

For near ground flying CP is always better than linear, dont matter what frequency.

My GS with AAT all fits in a backpack with the goggles, tx,Lipos etc.
I've taken my skyhunter with aat to the top of a mountain with a 1 hour hike  :)
What tracker are you using the MFD one?  That's the only one I saw that looked remotely compact.

So basically if I want to continue flying low I'm stuck with the cloverleafs  :)  I do have one of the TrueRC Singularity antennas I might see how this works on the ground station as that would make it pretty compact to fit in my rucksack

Thats a great 1.2G video image Dave, but I would be more concerned about losing control signal this low down. The L9R has a stack of range higher up, I even saw one out at 22kms the other day (with a 5.8G link you could not see)

Foliage will block that 2.4G signal down low though, remember, you are about 1.5 seconds or less from a pile in doing this...? If you watch the feed, your RSSI drops like a stone on a number of occasions..?
Have you tried hitting RTH at 100kph and 5mtrs altitude....lol..?

Its that Mathew you hang about with, hes made you do this hasn't he...?....He's a bad influence....:)....?

Nothing beats the smell of Jet-A at 800 Celsius...:)
Falcon UHF & 1280mhz Video.
SW1900 & Storm.

Well can't really blame him, I think if anything it was the other way around and he saw how much fun I was having flying around trees.  I hear what you're saying and yeah that RSSI did drop very low a couple of times. I have an alert set on my Vector in the Talon if the RSSI drops below 40 or 50, should really set something similar on the MiniD.  Will see how it copes once I get the low pass filter on there but may have to go to UHF for safety.

I know flying like this is risky for my plane but its not risky to anything full size
