Yeah that makes sense, I guess it's hard to imagine the forces on the wing when you are in the air so what may feel stiff on the bench isn't under load. I'll add some to the top as well, maybe go for the opposite angles from the bottom.

The motor I have I thought was 1250kV but it's actually 1400kV, so hoping this should have a decent turn of speed with an 8x6 prop. It's a 600W+ motor so should be good!

Put the carbon in the same place top and bottom. This forms an ibeam so opposes forces from both top and bottom.

I've got carbon going from the centre right out to the tips and also some across by the motor mount.

Some more progress in the last few days - Printed the camera nose in semi flex and got it cut/glued in, glued in the equipment bay and screwed on the Omnibus board. Got the servos centered and fitted, and the UHF and VTx fitted and cables run. Now need to add on the 12v BEC for the VTx/Camera, fit the motor then laminate it all. Then I can work out where to cut the battery bay to hit CoG. Looking forward to getting it in the air!

Saw that on YouTube, looked like a fair whack it took! No damage?

Mine is almost complete! Just got to fit the camera and then cut the battery in. Is the manual CoG correct? Mine will be a shade under 1kg with the 3000 in it but hoping it should be fine!

I maidened mine on the cg but it felt slightly tail heavy. Moved it 5-10mm forward and it felt a lot better.  I'm sure it'll be fine with the 3000

46" wingspan and 1kg?! I can't imagine it will be anything other than wonderful. There are 34" TBS Caps out there approaching 1kg which still fly. Yours will be great!

Almost done! Just got to fix the hatch down and do some final iNav setup. Hoping to maiden on Friday if the weather is ok! Added the extra vertical stabs, they are 4mm correx. Just got glued on so I can remove them easily enough.

Oh I like the look of the extra fins,  wonder where you got the idea for those from 😀 Would be good to do a flight with and without them to see whether they make a difference?

Not sure having your wing tips forward is a good idea. I read elsewhere this will trap leading edge vortices at the tip and cause waggle. Never done it myself so can't comment if this makes a difference.

Cheers, yeah there was a certain amount of inspiration from elsewhere on those... :P

I hate wag, so after seeing how well the HC series flies I thought I'd give it a go. The plane seems pretty similar in design already. The original plan was to make them removable so I could compare, but to be honest I just wanted to get it built. They are just stuck on with hot glue so will come off easily enough if I want them to, will see how it flies.

Ah ok, I seem to remember reading on here that someone did some simulations that showed having it slightly forward improved things! Can't remember who it was though now! These are just taped on so I can easily re-position them.

Looking forward to seeing how this flies. Given the mid sized wingspan people seem to be building this super light.

I thought it was Ritewing who advocated the wing tips slightly forwards to stop air flow slipping off the front. I may be mistaken though?!

Well, maiden was today and it went without a hitch thankfully! Launching was easy, went pretty much vertical with a little overhead chuck, I had far too much reflex on so it just wanted to climb, but after landing and sorting that the next flight was great. Plenty of power but seems happy to cruise at 40-50km/h which is about 1/4 throttle. Full whack was about 120-130km/h. I don't have a current sensor but on my wattmeter on the bench that was about 38A.

There was still a bit of yaw waggle, but I think it was due to the large winglets catching crosswinds, so I'm going to try much smaller ones and see if that helps. It's super agile and feels locked in, apart from the slight waggle, can see this being an awesome plane!

Flight times I reckon will be about 15 minutes with mixed flying. iNav worked well also, stabilised and RTH modes worked no bother, only issue is my OSD is flickering, I've had this on all the omnibus F3 boards and it's normally grounding so need to investigate that, but otherwise it's fine.

Overall I'm happy, successful few flights and a promising start for this airframe!
