CurryKitten: I did see you at Popham but thought it would be a bit weird to just say hello. Anyway you had a mouthful of Ham sandwich at the time. A little disappointing that there weren't many stalls there I came with pockets full of cash expecting to buy stuff as I normally only get from BangGood. I really liked watching the air display though but found the drone races a little difficult to follow.

Haha - I almost forgot to eat, had to shove that into my mouth during a quick lul.  Lots of strangers came up to say hello, so I sort of got used to it.  Quite interesting to know how people were getting started, and the difficulties they faced and how they were getting through it all.  I did see quite a few pure quad flyers starting to look at planes in a new light, which was cool.

Yes - I found the quad racing difficult to follow as well.  As much fun as it is to race around through gates, I still think it's a really difficult sport to watch - unless you have proper TV studios cutting DRL races into actual watchable footage from multiple camera angles and breaking down the commentary so it makes sense.

It certainly seemed like most of the effort was put into organising the racing (those racers are very vocal if they feel it's not all about them).  I would have liked to have seen a lot more things to buy, more announcements about what was actually going on in the main field.  It was the case the the overwhelming majority of people there were already in the hobby - I don't know if there was any marketing done outside of drone based facebook/youtube/magazines that would have brought non-hobbyists in.

It was good to see Andy RC, NJ Tech, and Painless 360 there too it was a bit like "celebrity" spotting! Did you see Painless 360 had the new Fatshark HDO goggles. I was too shy to go up to him and ask for a try even though that was one of my aims for the day.

I noticed you were taking a bit of footage. Will we be seeing any on youtube?

CurryKitten

Ahh, you should have done so.  I'd spoken to all the guys there before in podcasts, but never met them in person - and Lee/Painless is such a nice bloke and super-approachable.  He was nice enough to come and find me and made a point of letting me know he enjoyed my videos.  We had a good old chinwag about planes, and making youtube stuff etc.  I didn't look through his HDO's though, mainly because of being distracted by other things, and also I need -6 diopters in goggles else I can't see anything.

I tried my best to take selfies.  My daughter would be ashamed by my inability to do so

My plan was to take some footage and make a vide.  I was also supposed to be writing a piece about it.  However, showing how men are indeed incapable of multitasking - I've done badly in both cases.  To the point that I will need to ask for some photos from the event. I might put something up on YouTube of weird bits and pieces that dont' really make a full story - with an explanation and apology for not getting it right
