I'm up for it, but my next day off is Monday, then the following Saturday, I will have mornings or afternoons between, I'm free this Saturday after 5pm, its still nice and light same for Sunday.
:) G
PS there is always the morning, but that may conflict with peoples bed times.  :P

Pasty

it needs to be a weekend as Gary works all week and we need to make a day of it to get the most of the drive and fuel if we're coming down your way.

I could come down for some unofficial testing tho ;)

on a side note, I'm still trying to work out how to get a KK board into the PJ.

g.collins

how about Saturday the 5th of April then, for the first race event.

Just got back from a top test session with the PJ, a lovely no wind evening with a nice warm sun.

The first flight went well, I quickly realised she was too twitchy but thought I'd continue flying this pack and adjust when i land for the next pack. All was good until I tried a long fast inverted pass and tried to climb out inverted... which result in the canopy being ejected... and the canopy holds my fpv gear!

I flutter to the ground helplessly and quickly bin the throttle hoping to avoid a full speed ground encounter, with goggles thrown to one side I run across the fields fearing the worst...

surely a full speed inverted crash would be terminal? But when I arrive at the crash scene the PJ is sat there right way up with not a scratch on it and the canopy sat a few feet infront... after a quick jump for joy I see I had got some damage, the canopy had gone through the prop cuting the plastic in a few places... oh well... battle scares!

For the next flight I reduce the aileron dual rates to 40% and stuck in 20% exp, what a difference, she was rock solid and a blast to fly.

Thankfully the camera performed ok in the much brighter light but it did black the ground out when the low sun was in view... hey ho I can live with that.

Bring on the racing! :D

I dont know why but I've been hankering for a twin engined fpv ship for a while, I've been eyeing up the j power P38 but its 100 smackers atleast regardless of where you get it from.

So while looking around the shop I saw my old Ute fpv ship which handlely had some motor pod things already made for the wing :D

Down she came and onto the workbench, shess not much to look at but on a windy day her weight could help in the unlimited race class and with two 1800kv motors swining 6x5 props it should be good for 80mph.

I'm going to get rid of the rudder, associaed servo and cut down the elevator to reduce weight at the back and get shot of unwanted drag.

It'll be something different and fun I hope.
