Don't forget, as things look at the moment, even if the plane/quad is under 250g comes the 1/7/20 then if a camera is fitted it still needs to be adorned with your operator number to be legal. Which means you need to register, pay the TAX and take the test. Just saying. IMO its bloody nonsense. If my childhood self was flying models now I'd be a criminal(society would disintegrate, death destruction and pestilence would roam the land. Or so the CAA would have us believe)!

I am the only person in the world (it seems) to have hated the bigger ZOHD Dart... I simply could not get it to balance, although when I did fly it it seemed to fly well albeit the CoG was right out. Not sure what was up with it (perhaps bad CoG markers on the foam?). There was no flight controller in it though.

When I was ripping it up I discovered it also had 2x lead weights buried in the nose to try to make it nose heavy which suggests to me that it is a fundamentally flawed design - I hate carrying dead-weight, especially when we're trying to get something as light as possible for regulatory purposes.

So - I am interested in seeing how well the 250 version flies.. lesson learned I will be trying to use the "official" flight controller this time. But the thing is, we've always historically railed on aircraft that needed a flight controller to fly, so if one is actually needed to fly it properly then I'm not sure how I'll feel.

I did realise that, thanks. You are probably right and I will have to go on the naughty list at some point, just trying to delay it as much as poss in the hope the gov come to their senses  :D
So anything I currently buy will be sub 250 gms.
As you say totally stupid rules that won't solve the problem at all, but that's just the gov showing joe public they are doing something plus they are trying to clear airspace and sell it to Amazon and co....
