Title: Bardney Invite
Post by: Chris in Kabul on March 03, 2013, 04:53:27 PM
Hey up guys.
Once again the Bardney guys have contacted me and asked when we want to fly there again.
As I haven't been around for a while I'd though I'd put it to you guys to come up with a date.
I am back in UK 22nd May so the weekend after that would be good for me or again in October but don't let my dates influence what the majority may want.
Drop me a PM with interest as I can't always get on here so much these days.

The events organizer for the club is now Tyrone Baker and can be contacted on [email protected]

Cheers

Chris

Whoa, this thread took a quick boost.
Maybe time to throw a few dates around. Somewhere between 22 May - 9 June is when I am home but that shouldn't influence the dates.
I have sent a mail to the events organiser and Chief burger flipper Tyrone with these provisional dates.

Post by: Chris in Kabul on March 13, 2013, 06:37:08 PM
Ok I've heard back from Bardney's events organiser today and the 1st of june is free but they have a "warbirds" day on the Sunday (2nd). I can vouch for that being a very good day if anyone wanted to attend that.
FPV flying wouldn't be compatible with that but maybe a 1 day event on the Saturday would get more of us there.

THOUGHTS?

" 1 day"

It only takes me less than half a day to either crash beyond immediate repair and / or discover I've forgotten some important component - like the transmitter !

Having had 3x2 day meetings so far at Bardney I don't think wish she over step our welcome. So far they have been very welcoming and allow us to fly virtually (no pun intended) when we want. This is why this time they and I thought it would be nice to combine one event of ours and one event of theirs in the same weekend. Any of you would be welcome to attend the warbirds day as long as you have a warbird to fly and, as it is their event, you must have BMFA insurance and an A Certificate to fly solo.
Before anyone asks, the FPV forum guys are allowed to fly on FPVUK insurance and without buddy leads during our planned events.
Nothing is set in stone yet as it has to go to BFMC Committee before I can go firm on the date but looking good.

Ok The Bardney Flyers Club have now confirmed a date for our invite so those that want to attend can start making their sarnies.
If anyone needs directions please let me know as those that have been before will tell you, it is not over easy to find.
1st of June it is for 1 day only event.
As before I have plenty of info on B&B's, hotels and campsites if required so let me know.

Bad news guys from Bardney Club.
The warbirds event scheduled for the 2nd of June has been extended to include the 1st as well so the FPV meet has had to be postponed/cancelled.
Sorry about this but it's beyond my control.
I will keep you posted if I get offered alternate date(s)

I too have a Day Pass I don't want to cancel - could we have a 'random' location reasonably close to Bardney ?  That way we'll all have a similar distance to travel as if going to Bardney.

Could we contact Coyote's nearby X8 finder farmer ?
Title: Re: Bardney Invite
Post by: pk-surfing on March 29, 2013, 02:46:44 PM
I'm out tonight having a beer and grub with the farmer who's fields me, Coyote and Dakarsg have been flying at recently so am going to ask him about this, a lot will depend on what crops he is growing as it's all arable farming except for the one field right at the back of the main house.

The other farm a few miles away had sheep in the field all of last year so was good for flying, the farmer there is one of Dakarsg's contacts so we'd need to get Dakarsg (Stu) to do the asking on that one, that may be the better spot in June.

From the Members Map I assume you are talking of fields way North of Bardney ??

Unfortunately yes.... when you mentioned Coyote I thought you meant up this direction..... now realise you meant when his X8 went walkabout down at Bardney last time  ;D

Err Yes - I didn't make myself very clear - did I ??

Yes meant the Coyote emergency landing field near Bardney from last time when he ran out of electricity - thought that may be the only contact we might have in that area.

I don't think it was a farmer who found Coyote's X8 - the guy I got it off when I picked it up said he'd found it while he was out on a nature walk with his kids in one of the fields

Nice bloke but I don't think he was a farmer like I say, so not much use in sourcing land.

Rather too far to travel and it's cold enough down here without going up to the frozen 'North' !!
