Just saw there's been a minor update to the FY41AP OSD firmware in the last few days.....

Thanks, I'll do it tomorrow. Wonder if it is the imperial measurements.
Did the upgrade, should'nt have bothered cos now the video side doesnt work at all. No video, blank screen. Tried earlier versions of the osd , nothing. What a load of poo this is.
I'm not a big fan of updates. If you bought a unit and it works as you like it ... don't tweak!
I wait a long time and read the forum posts of others as to what is going on - for example, my Naza V1 is still in the stone age. Firmware is 2-3 yrs old but it works a charm.
My 41AP is "as is" ..... never upgraded it.. it works....
:D
Yes I know what you mean, the latest Windows network security update is giving me grief as well. However, a couple of guys over on RCGroups have commented that the upgrade worked for them. Trouble is I don't have anyone near me that uses FY41 to check anything out. I have done it 5 times now, each time making absolutely sure that I am doing it right, still no joy. I am so bloody cross  Actually what I have found out is that the voltage out to the camera is 12.8 volts. Could be the reason for my on screen diagonal lines. Looks like it's a return to factory job, which is even more infuriating as my missus flew out there on business yesterday  . BTW I am thinking of starting a buyer beware thread with regard to EBay shops that seem to think that the Sale of Goods act doesn't apply to them. Sort of a name and shame exercise.
Big t where in the uk you from as I use the FY41, I am from london
dont start me on ebay.... i had 2 faulty items arrive, and despite there refund policy.. they're saying they are not faulty - it's just my imagination!
Hi BigT
Sorry to hear you've had probs with that upgrade, I must admit I haven't tried it yet but will when I get time to get the FY41AP out of the plane and plugged in. I've not had any probs with any of the updates I've installed before, just had to make sure I'd applied the correct update to the correct uart port .
I know lots of people like to stay with the original firmware and I do agree in some ways with the idea that "if it aint broke, don't fix it" but when I look back at just the autopilot firmware upgrades on the FY41 and also the fy31 before it, there have been some really valuable updates and some that are probably essential to have the unit operate at max safety. For anyone interested in what the upgraded firmwares have offered I've attached Feiyutech PDf file outlining all the changes they've made since the first firmware update .... some minor and some I wouldn't want to be without.
If I can help in any way let me know. Also now I've managed to get my Zephyr 2 succesfully in the air I'm realising the interference probs I'm having on the osd sound similar to yours.... scrolling diagonal bands speeding up then reversing direction and slowing down. grrrr, anyway that's for the next post :D
Regards
Mark
Omg at last. I have had a battle royal with the immersion no help forum over these stripes. The eBay shop finally agreed to "look" at the tx but only after I promised to go to small claims. I have ordered a PC capture device so I can post a video. I don't think it's the osd as I have taken the camera and tx out and wired it up on the bench and it still does it. Unless once it's connected to the 41 it is damaged some how. I checked the video out voltage from the 41 and it is 12.8 volts. The best result I have had is to put a seperate battery on the tx it fades the stripes. I now need a new autopilot whilst this one goes back to china. So do I stick with fy41 for commonality or go for a cyclops which does not have auto circle or a ruby?

my best advice is to start an eBay complaint ASAP. Then brush up on the sale of goods act 1979 (as revised) quote it to the seller and offer to go to small claims if they don't honour the guarantee. Don't accept the fob off of "send it to the manufacturer" that's the retailers responsibility unless you take out a special agreement with the manufacturer. Of course many eBay shops run 2 parallel accounts and magically become private sellers when you complain. Some but few are honourable. I will now only buy big ticket items from the retail outlets listed on the manufacturers web site. For example feiyu tech and fatshark list first person view uk. I am prepared to pay a few % more for good cover. I would never buy big ticket items from hobby king china but might from hkuk. Having said all that I had great service from bevrc and bang good and good luck buy on small stuff. Currently I am in dispute with a uk eBay shop who is trying to claim they are not a shop but a reseller. Another eBay shop tried to refuse to accept they had no responsibility outside 3 months until I did as above. Now they have agreed to send the faulty vtx for repair. Buyer beware indeed. I totalled up my fpv spend and it is a shocking amount of money to spend with cowboys.

any major improvements with the new update BigT?
Not that I have seen yet. I need to fly it before making comment.

Flew the firmware updates today. The OSD seems clearer, more solid than before other than that nothing much. The FY41 firmware is another matter though. On my previous version rudder and aileron where seperate, on this version they are linked which I HATE. The reason is that depending on the model you need various inputs to keep level in turns. The Skywalker1900 for example has a tendency to drop its nose in the turn when too much rudder is used. Plus I use rudder to counteract side slip in a crosswind. As yet I cannot find out how to decouple it. I know it used to be coupled in autolevel but now it is in everything. Another new thing over the previous version is the cruising speed and autocircle settings are super critical. If the circle radius is too big or small compared to the cruise speed then then the model dives or climbs to speed up or slow down. I switched into circle at 100 feet and it powered on into a shallow circle dive which I only just got out off! Next, when I switch RTL over 100 meters the model immediately puts in down elevator to descend to 100 meters to rtl home. Fine as long as you are not on a hill or in a valley! Think I will go back to the previous firmware
thanks for the info...
i'll leave mine as is lol = in fact will probably sell for an MFD Autopilot to standardise my fleet!
Sounds like a wee step back more than a progression

If you do let me know, basically it's a good bit of kit spoilt by badly translated instructions and Beta firmware. I had no problems with 1.20 AP firmware or previous OSD which I will reload until 1.21 is sorted. I particularly don't like the dice to 100m after RTL is engaged. The old version used to RTL at whatever height it was at until it got to home and then slowly circled down to 100m. Imagine if you where flying off a hill top! No where can I find if it is 100m above launch (like APM 2.6 ) or is it above the ground point where RTL actuates. Yesterday I was cruising at about 300m and engaged rtl for a test. The model did a diving 180 degree right turn at full chat. Airspeed went from 30 kph up to 70kph in a 50 degree dive to 95m then pulled hard up to 100m. Probably went to about 4g, could have snapped the wing on my Skywalker if there had been any wind at all. Bit P!"££$d off with the FY41 lite launch though as I had just bought a 41 Heavy and i dont use waypoints and fly an APM2.6 on the quad.

I'll keep you posted on that... The MFD is ticking all the right boxes for me, but until this weather buggers off....... i can't test it! As far as user friendly goes i can't fault it..
I took BenLimeClouds through the unit and options and he left suitably impressed.
either way there are 2 planks ready for a break in the weather!
:D
Further firmware released byFY both for AP, OSD, Install and new manual. I am interested to hear from anyone who is having issues with RTL, ACM and failsafe as reported on RCGroups.
Looks like there's an update 3/3/14 for the fixwing firmware 1.22 to run with the 1.22a OSD update.
Apparently it - "Cooperate with the firmware FY-41-OSD-V1.22a, fixed some display characters problem."
Anyone considering buying this AP should read this forum thread on RCGroups. FY-41AP autopilot & OSD installation and debugging. Wish I had!!

Thanks.
I wonder if there is any merit in starting a running poll to find the most popular Autopilot with OSD
After my mate accidently pranged my skywalker.
I've took the 41ap out and put it in the go discover.
Maybe I shouldn't of updated the firmware to v1.22, In between.
I Have a storm arriving today.
Now I don't know if to take our back out and put a storm in.
advantage of 41ap can use a 4s, Without the need for a separate 3s like the storm.
advantage of storm.
firmware is stable.

Looks like some staff changes at FY Tech product help. Getting some sense out of them now. Apparently we have been trying to program the 41 from the wrong interface. After 1.21 you have to use the Ground Control Station. My big issue now is that the failsafe settings are different if the ASI is installed. On my Futaba 14sg you need a "multi-channel" rx so that means 8 to 14 channel rx. So if you use a genuine Futaba rx to get max range that means a £120 ish rx or chuck the ASI out, or use FrSky etc which have a much reduced range by as much as 1000m

Out of interest what software did you use to update the firmware? Did you read this tucked away on the web site with regard to firmware after 1.16
This firmware have adjusted for matching the GCS 5.0 or above version. All internal control parameters of the FY-41AP can be adjust via the GCS 5.0 or above version. No longer need to use the DOS parameters setting software, also FY-DOS-SETTING V1.1 software cannot be used in FY-41-V1.16 firmware.

I found out on the other thread the parameters need gcs.
I usually just adjust it at the field via the osd.
Just used the program in the zip to update the firmware.
Well,
I can get GCS running with just a click of the mouse.
No problems at all.
Really cannot be A^%ed to take it out the go discover to connect it to the GCS though.
Yes update is easy enough. I can open gcs as well and can connect to 41. What I cannot do is open a map that I create and read the pids. If I try that it crashes. Fy say you must not use old setting up program after 1.16 but must use gcs

Giving it another test in the go discover tomorrow.
I'll try the gains at 50 this time.
If I can't get rid of the bunny bouncing in abm mode at least.
I'll be taking it out.
I have a storm or a tornado to replace it.
Worked great in the sky walker.
Why not 25. What do you set throttle gain to?

quite simply.
I don't have much confidence in it since testing it in a quads with mc fw.
it would only flying correctly by setting the direction of the ap opposite.
Their customer support said have you plugged the motors in the correct ports.
Erm yes.
Oh. ......... watch this video.
exactly the same thing lol
trial and error.
