So I got my package from Simon and want to install it. It looks all straight forward but I was reading the forum just to make sure and now I see that there is a firmware update option. Do I need to update?
And another newbie question: Where do I connect my UBEC on the EZUHF RX?
Figured out that you can connect the UBEC on any available channel of the RX. Still dont know if I need a firmware update though.
Ezuhf updates tend to be for using different / extra features. Check on ImmersionRC.com to see if any are for essential updates, but if you have bought it recently then they will be up to date anyway
Ubec to a spare channel, or if you have none, share the throttle channels with the ESC signal wire
I bought my ezUHF a while ago now but I have yet to actually power it up and bind it. Im using an MK FC, the FC supplys 5v to the reciever via a servo connector. If I connect this servo cable to ch1 that should power it up right?
Thanks, sorted all that.
But now I am hitting a wall and need help, again. I have a 7channel Futaba and thought I could use ezUHF with FY31 and Hornet OSD and a pan and tilt system using the FT HT. Am I asking for too much? Do I need more channels to run all that?
From what I see, the OSD wants a channel for switching modes, FY31 wants 2 triple state switches/channels, pan and tilt needs 2, and for flying I need rudder, elev, aeleron,ESC. So totalling 8 and I only have 7.
So im a little confused now, its been a long day but I would really appreciate any help.

Yes, any channel will do. Maybe ch1 you want to keep for your aelerons, but it will work just like any other channel.

Unfortunately your right, you don't have enough channels I'm afraid
Do I really need a channel for the OSD? If I dont connect that, will it just power on with the default OSD?

its not essential so long as your happy with the default, which shows more or less everything, im pretty sure the other screens are a bit less cluttered is all
I dont understand why i need 2 switches for FY31. I only need RTH from the autopilot modes available. Can I have SW1 on a 3 stage switch doing deactivate and stabilized mode and RTH on the autopilot setting?
stupid i know but one switch has the rtl on it and the other has stability mode, and theres no way to change them around, maybe something we can hope for in a fw update?
i too only wanted, off/stability/ rtl
dont want waypoints, nor circling mode
bit of a bummer

I went through exactly your same problems not long ago.
UHF Drivers - in my opinion default UHF settings are OK - EXCEPT
From memory I DID have to enter into the UHF settings to amend which channels I wanted the Pan & Tilt to be associated with. I had major problems with the Driver Software on Windows 7 which the Immersion chaps had to solve by issuing a new version which worked fine.
Ok so I gave up on my tilt servo, instead Ill stick to panning using the headtracker (i only have 7 channels on my TX). While setting that up, I realised that actually ezUHF with its 8 channels wont be enough for all that I want running simultaneously anyway, so I wonder how you guys solved this?
Rudder
Aelerons
Elev
ESC
Pan
Tilt
FY31
FY31
Hornet OSD
Flaps
Thats 10 channels. I suppose I need to lose the flaps and the osd, then I can manage with 8. What did you give up on?
Also, using all 8 channels, how do I power the ezUHF rx? Currently I have a UBEC on channel 8 and if I want to use that too, where will the ezUHF draw its power from?
Loose flaps and hornet osd (
Just use a jumper in sw pins ) so that's 8
Because your using a Bec you won't / should not have red or black wire from ESC going to rx anyway so that's where you can add the BEC wires to the throttle channel
Aha! So does that mean for the ESC I actually only need the signal cable? Currently I have ground also attached (plus cable of course is not attached).
Mind you, I also noticed I can just plug the UBEC into the throttle plug of my FY31 - it all powers up nicely, including the ezUHF rx.
Yes you only need the signal cable, if you use the -ve cable you introduce a ground loop if you have a current sensor which is very bad.
Yes it will power anything that`s plugged into the FY because the 5v and 0v pins are common inside the FY
