Are Helix antennas Polorized?

I am currently using Left and Right handed Skew type antennas.. I have a cheap pair from China and the ImmersionRC set, so have to use a different/matching RX antenna depending on what TX I am using

I was wondering whether a Helix might give me some better range and was tempted to try.. But I wonder whether i need to match Left or Right handed? Or whether polarity isn't an issue.

Yes they are polarised. You should definitely get better range, subject to the quality of the antenna, but remember that it will be more directional, again that depends on the number of turns.

Cheers.. So it looks like I need to get a pair, so that I have one for each TX... Funny thing is, I can find LH easily (looking at Ebay), but not RH..

I have ordered a cheap one so will have a play and then decide what I am going to do moving forwards.

you can buy them here there are a few people making them - odd that most are right hand circular polarised

Yep.. Ebay.. They are about £5 and I figured it was worth a punt.. I have no idea whether I will use it (due to the fact that its a bit bulkier than a skew) and figured that for a fiver it was worth having a look at...

Yeah you might wanna think twice about using the cheap eBay helicals like the one above, it will just give you a bad experience using them and you'll think that what helicals are like
I make 3/5/12 turn and left or right polarized, although if your going to use anything more than a 5 turn a tracker helps no end
Have a look at rcmodelreviews and currykittens vids they have done then you'll get some idea what they are like
