thoughts on these? was going to get the suppo osd for 60 quid, but of rate extra looks like i could get a stabilisation system for rth as well?

thank you

Ha, talk about project creep!

To answer your original question or "need a simple osd", really the easiest stand-alone option with the ability to show a direction home arrow is the £17 one I linked to earlier. It can easily be reflashed if you want to customise the layout or add some extra features.

But now that you are beginning to look further afield at more complex systems, why not consider the "HKPilot Mega", which is basically an APM2.6 running Arduplane and about as comprehensive as you can get when you can add in 'mission planner' ground station software etc.

ha, always the same!
the idea of having less money ad complexity on board is still appealing however, so will consider the initial one you linked to, and have  a look at th HK pilot mega.

thank you

chris, is this what i have to do to get this unit to give direction home arrow?

im not great at reflashing etc, but I'm willing to give it a go if i can get this unit to give me direction arrow.

Yep, that looks about it. It seems really complicated but I've done it several times, just take your time with the soldering. I was pretty sure that the stock firmware displayed a home-direction arrow, as thats what I first started with before I discovered the art of reflashing. Of course, they could have changed it in later versions.

Hi Stevec - I'm looking at taking my first steps in FPV on a Venturi wing, I note your recommendation for the EZosd. I already have a Lemon rx stabiliser & telemetry set in the wing, can I install a second current sensor in the power line or must I strip this out? I'm also considering using a HS1184 camera, can I do this or must I use ImmersionRC camera's and vtx? I'd appreciate your advice.

Cheers

not sure on the current sensor, I see no reason why it would cause a problem, just plug the line that normally goes into the battery into the power sensor and the battery into the other side.

Immersion gear makes it all plug and play but it will work with anything, to be honest if you can get it flying first then add the osd after, I wouldn't be without the osd now but it is good practice to start off basic and build the system.

cheers

Sorry if this has been mentioned as I didn't have time to read the whole thread. Cyclops breeze is the cyclops storm minus the flight controller. It's worked pretty well for me although the mah consumed is way off for some reason - I just use voltage. I has a HUD style display with speed altitude and heading tape, a rth arrow and other bits too.
It's about £50

Leave the fy 41 heavy and lite alone, loads of issues and shocking back up.  Check out the rcgroups threads.

If you want a good standalone osd how about the Rembzibi?
