hi, still really new to fpv, and all the equipment it requires. Im looking for a simple osd, that displays my flight pack voltage, and something to help me get back if i get disorientated, like a compass, heading diamond etc.

is there anything about that is relatively simple to setup and will just provide me with theses things?

using a frisky taranis if that makes a difference?

thanks in advance

If you want a home heading you'll need a GPS unit so that the way home can be calculated. The CC3D and Nase32 among others can use a GPS. To get this all displayed you could look at a minimOSD and theres a micro MinimOSD thats quite configurable and will give you your home direction as well as a host of other things.

so for example, on my naza lite 450 quad, which has gps, i could wire a minimOSD into that?

for my fixed wing stuff, which due to longer flight times, I'm more likely to need a way home, I'm not looking to use a stabilisation/board. is there anything stand alone i could use?

also where is best place to buy these? usual suspects like hobby king or bang good?

thank you

I use a MyFlyDream TeleflyPro as a simple OSD which can talk to any GPS and can use a current sensor to give battery voltage and mah consumed. It's pretty much plug and play.

As a cheaper option there's firmware for the MinimOSD and Micro MinimOSD which can take a battery voltage and GPS without a flight controller then give you a nice simple OSD, but you have to be comfortable with wiring and flashing firmware to get it working.

A short google later and this popped up for Naza M Lite -> minimOSD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9r_Yu9U5rk

For the plane, you could get something like the Cyclops Storm which has the FC (fight controller) and OSD as one unit. The GPS is a separate unit that you can stick on top of the plane. This is probably by far the easiest method as its all done for you.

If you want to tinker, then CC3D, (micro) minimOSD and GPS would work as well. CC3D can be reflashed for multis and planks.

minnaza osd is a true ballache to solder up. there is an off the shelf version you can buy from banggood now

http://www.banggood.com/S-OSD-iOSD-Remzibi-OSD-Module-for-DJI-NAZA-LiteV2-GPS-vs-N-OSD-p-958349.html?currency=GBP&createTmp=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_content=saul&utm_campaign=rc-quad-uk&gclid=CjwKEAjwv8iwBRC35-_e8aPqwCESJAB8khP9G7gLn8mdGOqJcgWMdCDkyNmqa3WJ0Q20T2Ob1WIyGxoC_4rw_wcB

even comes with the right sort of cables to connect it in line with your GPS puck.

I made the minaza version and it worked ok but was very fragile and the tiny wires I had soldered on were constantly coming off.

bit wary of the reviews, have you used one at all? may take the plunge ant ry it though

stevec

no when I had my modded board fall apart for the second time I binned it and bought an EZ osd.
if I had bought that in the first place I would actually be better off.

I have had 2x g-osd hacked to provide a home arrow. 2x minim osd re wired for minnaza, pidgeon osd. and the EZ osd.

the EZ osd is by far the most reliable but it doesn't play nicely with a mobius on the quad. works faultlessly in my plane though.

if you do take the plunge for ezosd then make sure you get the one with the bigger GPS Rx on it, the smaller one is crappy.

unfortunately you do seem to get what you pay for with OSD's unless anyone can prove me wrong.. please do as I am in the market for a new one for my AP quad.

Hobbyking Mini OSD...

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29798__Mini_OSD_System_w_GPS_Module.html

..about £17.

Uses it's own gps so nicely standalone but you might be able to wire it into the nasa gps if wanted, tho why bother.

I've used several of these on fixed wings and reflashed the software which allows you to configure the layout (uOSD on RCGRoups).

may try one these for my naza lite quad?

I think you need a Naza-m not a lite for that to work. that is why there are all the attempts to make one that does work with Naza lite.

You can flash a Lite to become a V2 so it can work with the IOSD stuff ... same hardware, just firmware limitations (which is horrible).

I actually have one of these, but as standard it does not give direction/commpass.

can i reflash using a mac, and with what software?

Is there a guide on how to, and how i would wire it up to a vtx?
thanks

Steve is correct above you can reflash the naza to v1 but you still need the stupid pmu wotsit that everything plugs into by the time you have bought that you may as well buy a v1
