The Taranis plus x9d I take it, looks like it comes with a battery and receiver so that's good.

Yes, that's one one, the X9D plus.

FrSky are releasing the Horus soon, I personally am not that interested in it but it will make eBay awash with second hand Taranis, whatever the plural for them is.

Lol I'm sure there will be many taranis's on eBay, got to finish my build first so will keep an eye on it.

Hi guys, I've been a bit quiet for a while whilst finishing the build and I'm nearly there, just the elevons to attach and servo linkages to fit, now I'm ready to order the motor, prop, esc and batteries.
You have all been helpful in offering your input which has helped me a lot and thanks for that, I'm thinking of getting this motor bearing in mind my lack of flying over the last few years

SK3 3542 1250Kv (for duration and less power than an os)

I still need help deciding on a suitable prop, an esc maybe jp 60amp or perhaps a turnigy equivalent and batteries, I was thinking of a pair of zippy 25c 4s 3300's or if there is a better battery that you may suggest?

Your help will be much appreciated

Darren

The Zippy's are good, Brucey flies with them and they balance up really well, alternatively the Turnigy 3300 nanos are very similar.

There's also the 4S 4000 Multistars that are similar weight-wise but you have to get used to the sag on them which is a bit un-nerving on long distance flights. If it's your first time back in the seat then you may be best sticking with predictable Zippy or Nano-tech batteries.

On the SK3 I ran an APC-E 9x6 prop which matches up really well.

Thanks ipeel,

I will go with the zippy's and also look for that apc prop, what esc will match well with the sk3?
I have no fpv gear for this wing but will definitely be building that into my next wing once I'm confident!

If there is anything else you think I may need on this one then please let me know.

You're right with the SJ 60 amp, that'll pair nicely with the SK3.

Hmmm that sk3 looks pretty good but they weren't in stock when I was shopping a few months back. I got the ntm 3542 1250kv which is only rated to 600W on 4s. That 9x6 would overpower the motor so I'm on 8x6. Or I could just give it a go... What's the worst that could happen?!

Just looking to order my motor and lipo batteries today from hobby King but I've seen a lot of negative reviews, has anyone had any good or bad experiences?
Also it looks like the items I want to order are only available from their international seller and I was a little concerned by import tax.

I decided to order the sports/Evo set up from rob at flying wings, also ordered a couple of 4s 3300 batteries from him although it doesn't mention what Brand they are I'm sure they will be ok.
