Well I've done it,I've flown fpv sorta, I built the MK2 using the booms from MK1, I've had it ready to go for about a week after making changes to cure problems I found in the MK1,just waiting for some decent weather. while it sat there in the shed it kept whispering to me "when we going flying",I'd put the cam & vtx on board just to check out everything working ok.This morning the sun shining hardly a cloud in the sky so I thought "go for it". Got to the field set the video camera on a tripod turned on tranny vtx & plane, put the goggles on, strapped the Archos to my arm started recording.
Then threw the MK2 into the air,did a couple of circuits to see how it handled....great, pulled down the goggles.......10 secs.......panic, pulled em up found the plane. So after that I decided fly around calmly & have a quick peek every so often, thats seems to work! Then off home to change my underwear & have a peek at video's.So yes I've done it all 10 secs of it (probably 5) Moral of this storey don't go fpving when your a novice without a spotter

Congratulations.

I started out flying with a monitor.. glancing down n looking back at the plane.. But I had an Easystar which is probably much slower than that. I have no doubt it will get easier, but its not the easiiest plane to start fpving onI would have thought!

yeah I know she looks a right handful but even with 4400 lipo's on board she's only 77oz's with a flat bottom section which works out about 15oz sq ft & a doddle to fly,but maybe your right perhaps something that floats to start with!

Get good altitude Charlie, then you've got room to make mistakes. I've got to say, as a novice myself... only 3 fpv flights under my belt... things didn't start making sense to me untill I got an OSD.. with an arrow home function.. then I started to relax a little...

that makes good sense, any you'd recomend or keep away from?

There's quite a lot of posts in the OSD section with lots of information about lots of systems. Eagle tree seem popular, but a bit complicated. After much reading of other folks posts and asking a lot of dumb-assed questions I decided on an EZ OSD. Simply because it was totally compatable with my Immersion rc vtx. Also there's a post which demonstrates in simple terms how to connect up the EZ OSD to the rest of the set up, ie vtx etc.. Take your time, have a good read & choose the right one for you with the functions you want.
