PS. Is it worth making that google spreadsheet a sticky at the start of this topic?

Id much rather fly :) But Id also not want to crash by being shot down :) Not having much experience with this, maybe we should ask the question about how to handle this with 14 + guests.

We should have a session in the morning, setting everyone's frequencies up and testing on the ground to ensure compatibility.

Those of us with working RTH systems should go up first, leaving those that don't to go up last.

My Skywalker can loiter for 45 minutes over head and my RVOSD will keep it safe, so I'm happy to be a guinea pig :)

That would work if everyone arrived at the same time, which will not be the case.

There also may be limited amounts of setup some people can do - with VTX's buried in planes, video channels may not be changable for all.

i think 4 people in the air at a time is pushing it personally.  2 Is fairly easy to manage, 3 can be tricky - but doable.  4 starts to worry me.... I am worrysome though :D

My VTX is in the wing, but I'll cut it out and put it on velcro or something prior to the day, if only so I can be flexible and therefore do as much flying as possible. Otherwise it will be much harder to organise if people can't switch channels.

With 14 people wanting to fly, assuming a max of 4 people in the air and a 45hr flying window, each of us will potentially get to fly once every 2.5 hours or so.

If anyone is unable to switch channels can you update the spreadsheet to say so and list your fixed channel.

I'm glad this is being discussed at length.

Firstly, I think we should just all agree and understand that we can't all fly our batteries out back to back all day long. This is kinda what happened with some people at the last two meets and no fault of their own. With ten flyers it was getting quite busy and there were a few hairy moments, but no catastrophe's - well none ascribed to frequencies anyway! :)

The day is also about meeting people, riding passenger etc. having a coupe of beers, some food and a laugh! So I think we should all be reasonably prepared to have a couple of flights, let everyone get their flights in (safely, without major interference) and just have a generally good time!

With Neil bringing his projector riding passenger will be easier than ever, chilling out in the club house area watching the action from inside (and out).

I guess we could also split up a bit and have a few flyers launching from another field? I wanted to try out a remote take off as well. Am I right in saying the real issues arise because of our ground stations being close, or is it more to do with proximity of the various transmitters?

Regrettably, I think we should think about closing the meet off now for new pilots. Do we all agree? Can I say those wanting to come of the interested but not confirmed list should pay for their spot by say midnight tonight, then we close off? So Mark, Will etc. please act soon to avoid disappointment.

A last point is that everyone who have come to the meets so far have been great blokes, friendly and very approachable. I reckon whatever number we are on the day, we simply handle our congestion with good communication, humour and respect for a successful day out :)

PS: Remember people flying 2.4 video will be affected by 2.4 radio, Frsky etc.

Yes I agree on closing the applications, anyone interested probably would have come forward by now.

I also agree on the flying aspect, if you want to fly all day going to an FPV meet probably isn't the best choice, that being said I'm sure we all expect to get a few flights in at least so the more organized we can be the better!

Shotgun!

Shotgun? Jim! gets it out quicker with a bit less damage!

Counting the days now. At St Pancras, on my way to Bruxelle. Once back I'll be getting my platforms polished up and maybe may spoil myself to something new :)
