Antenna options.

So have a FX61 wing using a Skew and 5 turn helical. Getting 8km on 5.8g 600mw so way happy.

Also got a 250 mini quad and now a 410 quad with Gimbal flying FPV. The quads seem a lot tougher and only have a fraction of the range. I have only used my Skews on both ends as don't want to have to worry about tracking the quad with the helical. Antenna tracker would be nice but not sure I want the complexity of extra kit to lug around.

Are there any better options available for the quad? Using a 600mw 5.8VTX on all straight to the Fatsharks Doms built in RX. Maybe a 3 turn helical might have better tree penetration and still not too narrow a band width for closer flying which is generally within 500m for the quads.

TBH with you, the 3 turn is all I use with my 250's and larger quads/hex's, you'll get better penetration around the trees and the advantage of going further a field if needed, however if your just staying within 500 meters then thats great as the beam on a 3 turn is about 60 degrees and can easily fly behind yourself upto say 100 meters, I have with a 12 turn anyway, not really tried with a 3

I can't reply to your pm unfortunately so posting here...

Now I think about the details I realise I need another skew because all my tx's and rx's are RP-SMA but I'm getting a new diversity rx that only comes in SMA. Also can I make the helical 5 turn.

If I'm asking for anything stupid here please feel free to point it out, I'm guessing most of what I want...

• 1 skew, straight RP-SMA connector, for 250 miniquad, maybe 45mm coax or enough to hold at least a 45-55 degree bend.
• 1 skew, straight RP-SMA connector, for a Bix3 build, 60mm coax.
• 1 skew, straight RP-SMA connector to fit RC832 receiver, 60mm coax.
• 1 skew, straight SMA connector to fit FR632 receiver, 60mm coax.
• 1 helical, 5 turns, straight SMA connector to fit FR632 receiver, enough coax to easily bend and hold 90 degrees.

I measured the coax lengths from the top of the screw part of the connector to the base of the dome.

For the 250 skew and Helical why don't you have a 90 sma connector? Would be better for you and no need to bend the coax, won't matter if you did bend but the coax would look and seat better
