Hi Simon my 3 turn helical has not had great range but I just assumed it was my location. However I have found a problem today. See pics

Got 10km today on my FX61 with 5 turn helical straight onto the fatsharks and skew on the 600wm 5.8g VTX. Using Taranis L9R RX with slightly higher gain antenna. Well impressed with that. New best.

Im sure with a tracker the video would have been a lot better. Was getting a little hard to track with my head.

Here are some screen shots. The sky was very grey and the river I was flying over was very muddy gray. That with brown ish ground didn't give a lot of contrast. When I turned to come home I was pointing straight over mouth of the river and got totally grayed out as everything was the same colour. Also the DVR I am using was a super cheap crap one and for some reason the video comes out a lot darker than what I am seeing.

You can see at the 10km mark the land is still fairly clear but looking into the bay is white out so to speak. At 4km almost perfect considering the day. At 7km more than acceptable. 9+ km was easily flyable but getting to the limit for sure.

VTX is a TS5828 mini 600mw. So nothing special (sorry just realized I said 500mw above will edit) . I have never messed with different channels or anything. Maybe that might even help some more. Maybe one of those Amoway ones might even be better?
The VRX is just the standard 5.8g fatshark Nexwave Dominator built in module.

I do have the Skew in the plane on a retractable servo leg so it sticks out the bottom. Gives a fairly clear view of the ground at all times.

Any suggestions to my setup more than welcome.

I would be keen to test the outputs on different frequency's. Not sure if there is a cheap and easy way to do that?
Also want to get a better DVR for recording my flights as that is a basic board only one Velcro onto the front of my fatsharks and the quality is rubbish.  It was cheap but :-)

Hi i bought a walkera 250 advance but it comes with a lhcp antenna. Im on rhcp so i ordered a rhcp walkera antenna off bangood so it would match. When it arrived i took the lid off to check it and low and behold they sent me a lhcp one. Any way they have now refunded me so was wondering if you could dissasemble it and make it rhcp.

I now have 2 of these do you think you could sort both of them please or make 2 new ones andd put the pod on them.

Tbh mate I don't think I could do anything with them sorry
It's probsbally easier just to have two new skews, I make my own covers as well so will protect them in a crash
