Sky walker 1900 Motor direction and prop attachment.

Hi All.

Recently launched and crashed my Skywalker 1900. First time RC plane been flying heli for 18 months before this.

Motor is going clockwise looking from the back. Prop was definitely pushing the plane forward. Felt like it had plenty of power.

So loctited the motor nut on. Didn't put the cone over the end to start with. when I cashed the motor got ripped off and the prop hit the tail and broke it self off. When I picked up the motor I noticed the prop was lose. Assuming this was just because the prop hit the tail and stopped which broke the nut free.

Is it right that the torque from the motor is trying to undo the bolt? not sure it can go any other way?

How do you hold your props on to stop the bolt coming lose. Maybe I should have put the cone to lock against the nut and loctited the whole thing. IS this enough??

I just tighten up the nut so much that it won't let go. A decent prop adapter shouldn't need glueing.

bit of threadlock on the nut should be sufficient.
Most ppl dont even do that.

So I have the shaft. A flat washer that goes against the prop a normal nut and a cone shaped thing. I guess just for aerodynamics, or do you use that as a locking nut?
I also noticed the cone shaped nut thingy has a hole in the tip. I thought it might be for a split pin or something. Would have to drill a hole in mounting bolt but.

I guess it was just the knock of the prop hitting the tail that loosened it.

the cone is used as nut replacement - mainly for aesthetic reasons.
the whole is in there to put a small screwdriver or allen key through when you are tightening the cone.
