Wow thats a hell of a difference. I'm seriously thinking of getting one to dabble with as well as do stuff for work. We use model makers at the moment for some stuff and they are charging an arm and a leg.
MakerBot Replicator 2 looks nice

How does the UP one compare with this http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1119161671/3D_printer.html?s=p
specification wise ?

I know this is made in China and a copy of a makerbot so there may be issues with quality etc. I'm just comparing specifications and ability really at this stage.

I've not seen that printer before, but if it can produce Makerbot quality bits that it would DEF be worth it, considering Makerbot is like £2,000!

Us model makers need to eat to, don't forget its not a magic modelmaker, you need to design it first.

Yeah, this is where I fail, and G totally ROCKS!

I just print free models off the internet, where as G can design anything! :D

Ren

Yeah know what you mean Gman, I'm a design engineer by trade (on my mothers side), gave it up a few years ago though but fancy getting the drawing board back out and dusting off my Autocad skills :)

I too am interested in buying a 3D printer and was very impressed with Keukpas Up! 3D print that he did for me. I have also been asked to take a look at some of the Makerbot clones that seem to be coming it at around £1000 including delivery, 2 spools of PLA, warranty, from a UK supplier on Ebay.

So I appreciate that there are some differences between UP! and Makerbot:

Makerbot has dual extruder heads eg, two colours can be printed simultaneously.
Makerbot can print down to 100micron or 0.1mm.
People are reporting that Makerbots simply run and run (once set up correctly).
The Makerbot close is cheaper.
The Up! has a smaller footprint.

So which one should I go for if I were to choose one?

I love the UP! printer.

The one Xup linked to:

Looks amazing, but without seeing the quality I couldn't comment.

If it comes anywhere near the Up! quality, then I'd say GO FOR IT! As it has dual extruder's :)
