Has anybody FPV'ed one of these?

Currently building one but it looks like the weather is not playing nice this weekend.

Just need electrics, winglets and a break in the weather!

I would love to but I cant get foamboard here and ording it from the US is crazy expensive. Its less of a hassle and cheaper to buy a simple wing kit like a swift, for me anyways.

I do hope they manage to sort out the shipping at some point though.

I have actually made this from depron. I have used a clear packing tape on the exterior surfaces to replicate the paper cover foam board has. It makes it so strong and very durable.

I can get foam board in the UK for a decent price but would choose depron before it every time.

Flite test's shipping prices tend to be more than the product (when shipping to the UK) but this is out of their control. Hopefully they can sort this.

Getting there. Debating whether to initially fly los with no fpv gear or just gamble on full fpv setup on maiden! Hmmm?

theres a plan for a correx wing , which is easy to get here , especially if you have some roadworks finishing near you as they chuck the signs away afterwards.

Update. Cutting and building motor firewall. Making dumy camera and VTx so I can get the correct CG for FPV setup. Decided to maiden without these!

Thanks Brucey. Hopefully it flies good also! If it performs well I will definetly re build with a better covering job. Going to fly this one hard and fast as it only takes £3 of foam and an evening of building to replace. It is always more fun with a plane you are not too precious about!

Now thats a great idea! I will try it with tape!

Anarchy83

Yeah, order different colours of packing tape eg top side and bottom side to help with orientation.

Interesting construction method. Do you just build it flat on a flat board?

Looks to be quite roomy inside...

Andy

Anarchy83

Yes all built on a flat board so has a flat bottom airfoil similar to the below image.

Plenty of room, I can fit 2 x 4000mah lipos in the wings.I am planning on adding a second bay on the main bosy (behind the wing spar) for APM.

Still need to put the winglets on this one however!

I have just bought some foamboard in the UK from www.foam-board.co.uk.  They are currently offering 10 sheets of 5mm A1 white paper faced foamboard for £23.30 ex p&p.  See here http://www.foam-board.co.uk/a1-5mm-white-foamboard/
