whilst sorting my photo,s that are still loose from years back i found this thought i would share

She was all metal flew like a brick but looked brill in the air  :)

Motor was a enya 35 but changed it out for a irwine40 with a steel clutch with cork pads.

This model pushed me to purchase my collection of Baron 50,s and a baron30. and  after meeting Len Mount a leading champion figure in the RC heli world it gave me the urge to throw a lot of money at the hobby :( ;) LOL

So much fun though everything was so new  :D

That brings back some memorys! I had a Kalt Baron 50, Beautifuly built all metal construction, & I met Len & his wife down at a Pontins model makers festival at Brean Sands must have been late 70's, he was flying the lawn mower & a jungmeister 1/3 or 1/2 scale if I remember right at the time, really nice guy,I did have some pics as I've allways been into photography, if I can find anything interesting I'll post them up,can't promise anything though.

Fancy model with collective pitch, my first was fixed pitch and no gyro. These modern heli fliers don't know ow lucky they are!

... I tried flying without giro a couple of times... got to take my hat off to you,  after hours tinkering and getting the tail rotor trim about right I found it damn near impossible... no that's a lie.. Impossible! I plugged it all back together before I totally wrecked the poor thing.

Yep happy days i started by flying with the tail teathered flying into wind till i was confident but even after she was set up properly i always ended up facing a different way in the hover i did fit a mechanical gyro in the end after about 6 months of crashes and repairs but they were so dear back then to buy the floats were real btw but she was so heavy its unlikily she would have floated tbh but helped with my bouncy landings  :D
Oh and a little snippet the tail rotor gearbox was metal spiral cut bevel wheels in a oil bath reservoir run from a piano wire shaft :D
