If you use OpenLRSng you don't need any experience in uploading, there's a Google Chrome plugin that connects to your TX and updates it for you.

You'll need a FTDI dongle to do the updates, like the Sparkfun one which has the correct pin layout and voltage.

I use the DTFUHF tx / rx from www.dtfuhf.com.

Be careful with using 1W OpenLRS in the UK though, the creator of OpenLRSng claims the power settings don't actually do anything:

Due to design of the RFM23BP radio module the power control on 1W is quite useless. The best way to use 100mW/1W would be to have both RFM22B and RFM23BP or design a board with two antenna switches to be able to switch being PA and no PA.
