I am thinking of getting the FY-31 or the HK clone (which is made by FY under license) My question is this: I have the Rembizi OSD which works well and I am used to and would like to keep.  I want to use the FY-31 AP for RTH purposes so do I need to mount 2 GPS?

First the the HK clone is not made under license or with permission of Fy at all.

Regarding the GPS, you could share the GPS providing both the OSD and the FY use a GPS sensor at he same baud rate. You can not change the baud rate on the FY so if they do not maytch you would need to be able to change the rate on the Rembizi OSD.

If you can not, or they don't match then you will need separate GPS sensors for each of them

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

I'm in the opposite situation to you, I've got an FY31-AP, I'm wondering which OSD to get.

I've been looking at this website, from what I see the Remzibi gets all it's information passed on from the FY31-AP and has no need for an extra GPS unit.

I'm keen to know whether the Remzibi would be a better choice than the Hornet?

Thank you for taking the time to reply.  I must point out, however, that there is a statement on the HK International Warehouse web site to the contrary, quote "Package Includes:
F-TEK 31AP Flight Controller
F-TEK OSD System
Current Sensor
GPS Module
All required connection cables w/USB

Manufactured under license for HobbyKing by Feiyu Tech. 100% compatible with Feiyu Tech software/firmware and supported by the HobbyKing global warranty network. Visit http://www.feiyu-tech.com/ for the latest software and firmware." So if what you say is true then someone is in big trouble.

I have just establishewd from Remzibi that a clever chap has written code to enable the Remzibi to be used with an APM 2.5 with only one gps.  I have lots of experience with PM 2.5 so for now in this plane I think I will stick to the APM and use 2 GPS.  The problem with this game is you end up buying useless gear.  I have no doubt the Fy-31 and the hornet work well and seem very easy to set up.  The APM will take some head scratching

That`s all fine and well. But when it came out everyone got in touch with Feiyu-Tec themselves who confirmed they were not under license at all and Feiyu-Tec had no idea they were cloning them at all. Just like the APM boards cloned into HK boards.

In China no companies give a hoot about copyrights

All well and good fella, but the HK APM 2.5 works ok so does this one work? Not saying I would buy one though even if it is ahlf the price. I worked for GM when we sold thwe Asta to Deiwoo ;D if you know what I mean?  I am not going to lose a grands worth of plane for $50

Yes it works fine, they copied it perfectly :)

I would go with the Hornet OSD for it as well, but that`s only because I have used it before and not the Rembrizi

Personally I'd sell the remzibi (or keep it for another project) and buy the Hornet for your FY31AP. Very good OSD and Autopilot combo in my experience. the hornet will display what mode the fy31ap is in, not sure if the remzibi will do that, or if it just as the ability to share GPS.

Best choice is the Hornet :)

Why?
Because they are designed to work together .. No need for two gps modules plus you'll see your flight modes and ahi

Thanks for all the advise. I am going to try the amp 2.5 with its own gps and keep the Remzibi osd in this plane for now so as I have the comfort of rtl. Then when I have some money together I will sell the Remzibi on and get Fy 31 and hornet. I have 2 Rems, 1 genuine and 1 china rip. The china rip works from 3 to 6s. The gen is 3s only which is another reason to get the Fy. Another issue with the amp is the access to the USB port for programming and tuning when it is buried in the plane. Also with arduplane latest firmware they have removed the ability to put the arming and gps led off board.
