FPV'ing a Durafly Corsair

I got one of these for Christmas and was thinking about a simple fpv job on it, but it's got a pretty small cockpit so I was wondering whether one of the 'extended' 808 #16 cameras would be good enough to fly with?



I thought I could put the camera up into e cockpit and then run the lead to the rest of the 808 and vtx mounted in the battery cover. I could the get a second replacement cover and leave as standard for LOS flight.

Would it work?

With that limited space I would go for a mini cam, the wide HD view of the 808 would be mostly wasted

Can you point me in the direction of a 'mini cam'?

I know there is a little turnigy one, http://www.hobbyking.com/mobile/viewproduct.asp?idproduct=34059, but the specs don't make it seem much good.

Then there is the tiny nano camera from firstpv, http://www.firstpersonview.co.uk/cameras/2g-nano-520tvl-camera but no Ira how good it is.

This is the smallest camera I've got http://www.surveilzone.com/sony-super-had-ccd-700tvl-ultra-mini-fpv-camera-2.8mm-lens-hs1150 but it's going to be too big.

Chris i found the 2g camera from firstpersonview is sweet its lacking compared with a wdr but i flew my small spit with one but it needs good bright weather i found otherwise the picture was a little on the dark side

A bit of progress on the cockpit front....



Interchangeable cockpits, so I can fly regular LOS or fpv. I plan to fit the vtx just ahead of the canopy and run the skew back thru the cockpit and then rotate up 90 degrees so it sits just behind the canopy.

I cut out the clear parts leaving the frame with a hot scalpel blade which made a neat job of it.

The camera will be on a pan, but not sure whether I can leave it in the head as you  see above or if it will need to be mounted further back which means it will have to be pilotless.

I decided to try the 808#16 with one of those extended 120degree lenses, but didn't realise that what I had actually  ordered was a #11 lense and it don't work with the #16 camera so I'm now waiting on some other bits.

The biggest problem I've had is getting side tracked and detailing it up a bit, I blame it on idle thumbs and crap weather...



All the 'wing clutter' is mag-mounted so can easily be removed.

Brucey let me know how it goes, i have a spitfire that I have yet to fly.  once i have it mastered i would love to FPV it, not for me to fly but for "co pilot" i.e. my son to be immersed in the flight with me from the cockpit.

exactly what TX would you use?  i hazard a guess something very small, light & unobtrusive (also would need it comparable with my fatshark googles)

I think it will definitely need a few LOS flights first. As for the scale stuff, I got a bit carried away with it, blame it on the bad weather leading to too much time in the workshop.

I thought the fixed tailwheel was letting it down so modded the existing one into a retractable...
