First Hex build!

Here are a few photos of my first proper multicopter build.

For the technically minded, the frame is a Tarot Iron Man FY680 folding Carbon Fibre one.
It has six DYS 2216 880KV motors with DYS 30A ESCs using SimonK firmware all running from a DJI Naza M-Lite flight controller.
I'm thinking I might have to upgrade the motors at some point.
The radio system is a Turnigy 8 channel Rx and a Turnigy 9xR Tx.
The FPV system is a GoPro Hero3 Black mounted on a Tarot T-2D gimbal running on a Boscam 5.8Ghx VTx down to a 7" LCD monitor mounted on the radio, I hope to get some nice goggles when I'm used to flying the thing.
Blue LEDs on the front, red LEDs on the rear, switchable from the radio - hopefully will make flying orientation easier.





Here you can also see the GoPro in its gimbal mount, plus the cloverleaf antenna for the VTx





It folds up so I can get it in my car - one reason I got this frame.



Here you can see the Rx and the DJI Naza Flight Controller, the frame is all 3K Carbon Fibre



The finished article - yet to fly!





Assuming it survives its maiden flight I'll try and post some video clips.

That's a really neat build!

Are you sure you're going to get any decent range with all that carbon fibre surrounding the Turnigy RX? I see you're got the antenna hanging nicely though.

muzzer,  A very nice build indeed i am rebuilding mine at present after an aborted start were i was not happy with my layout, and have decided to mount my esc,s on the arms like you have,  but was concerned as to how it will look, But yours look fine so my worries were for nowt lol, I like your idea's very much , thanks for sharing them and wish you good luck with your flights

@iPeel - to be honest, I'm not sure what effect the CF will have on the range either! I'll have to see when I fly it, maybe move the Rx to the underside somehow, though that's where the batteries are at the moment.

@Dizzy - I did some reading up on the pros and cons of ESC mounting, some people think longer output wires are a better idea, though this seems to be a hang-on from old design ESCs. I run the supply wires and the control wires down the middle of the CF tube, my only concession to this is I've added a ferrite core on each of the control wires right at the ESC end.

@Gundummy - very much in at the deep end  :laugh: No. I haven't flown it yet, the weather here in the South Uk has been dreadful since before Christmas, I'm waiting for the wind to die down a bit before I fly it. Hope it doesn't crash and burn! I'll try and post some video if I can.
