Hi all,
I know some people like to build there own antennas but don't have the ideal tools.
Well I made my own antenna printable at shapeways.com

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/farmer_goes_airborn

So if you like you can order one (or two, or many more).
They come in many colors and materials.
I would love to get some feedback.
Hope you like them.

(3 and 5 turn coming up, first have to test them myself)

Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

So, the 3 and 5 turn helical antennas are printed and ready to assemble.
Unfortunately the postal office has lost my package with connectors, cables and pcb reflectors. :-\
So I have to wait for the next delivery.

They look the part, however, don't you need a reflector on the base? I can see that there are some slots in the legs/arms, so presumably thats where you would slot the reflector?

This is the end product.
Beta testing is almost done.
I hope to range test them next Monday.

My love feed recording device just died :(
Hopefully I can get it fixed before Monday.
Otherwise you have to trust me and see the mobius footage.

Yesterday I tried the printed 3 turn antenna.
Because I needed to go further then my frsky 2.4ghz systeem can go, I installed my brand new ezuhf system.
Got I strange problem with the ezuhf and the apm using ppm muxed.
http://youtu.be/kv9Nk_h2laI

Because channel 7 and 8 copy its other I can no use flaps and link quality.
There for I went flying with flaps deployed.  ::)
Flying against the wind was far from ideal...
With maximum 15km/h struggling to get some distance I was not able to do a proper range test.
I went 2 km out and aimed the antenna to the left and right,  still about 30 degrees beam angle.

Landing with this wind and flaps deployed was easy.
Coming from behind the antenna the signal was still ok till about 100 meters.

Hope you guys can help me with the ezuhf/apm problem.
So I can do I proper range test.

Yesterday it did some range testing with the 3D printed  http://youtu.be/FrAIgjPRlbI
The standard ezuhf equipment has a 2.5km limit. ???:-\
So I'm making some dipole uhf antennas.
The video at 2.5km was still crystal clear.

You should have loads more range than 2.5km. Have you used the spectrum analyser function on the ezUHF receiver to see what the problem is?

According to the Dutch fpv forum (from Sander Sassen, immersionrc) 2.5km of range with stock monopole antenna is pretty good.

Got the ezuhf rx in the wing of my skywalker, so I figured it would be fine.
I will check the spectrum analyzer.

I would of thought you could do double that.
It's good to have the RX out on the wing, but the noise could always come up the wiring. The spectrum function is so easy and useful it makes sense to try it out. At least then you know you have done everything you can, and then try the dipole.

Sander tends to say whatever gets the point across that he's trying to make at the time. I've seen other posts where he defends the antennas he ships stating he uses them all the time for long range flying.
