Latest airframes?

After all the commotion last night really got me thinking seriously about making flying again, and it coincided with me just submitting the last of my third year project work.. So I've have a day off from my studies to mooch about, and tinker with my gear in preperation for summer flying.... But that easystar is looking very very cramped, and I dont like the messy install, seems like I've had to shoehorn stuff in.. So I dug out the Easyglider fuse and thats even more cramped.. Was wondering what the latest airframes people are using cause i feel like I'm, theres a mountain of RCG threads and would take years to read through everything I've missed .. Feel like a newbie all over again..
Now before I was snowed under at uni a few people had started building the Ursus, and I really liked the look of it and the possibility for adding an undercarriage for those roll off ground take offs.. Does anybody has any first hand experience of them? There was a couple of people mentioning them on here at the end of last year but I cant find the posts.. Looked a decent size, not too big to lug around, not too small to fit everything in..

Rick

There are a few here with the Ursus, either in a box still or part built but as yet I don't think any are finished. Mine is now 85% there, njoro is well on the way with his build which looks awesome mighti add. Can't wait to get some more feedback and get mine in the air.

Thinking about it, I'm sure I've seen video on here of a complete one? Is it Paul?

It seemed to get good reviews on RCG and is it's not 'moulded' it seems to have loads of space. I'm building mine up for AP mainly with FPV to enable lining up the shots, but it should be a good all rounder!

Thanks Rick.. I know the feeling, I have 8 unfinished and a couple of part builds.. Just never have the time to do anything with them anymore..
and good guess,  :D I'm Paul

I`d get a skywalker Paul, loads and loads of room, not too big. Easy to transport and much longer flight times :)
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

Having messed around with an Easy Star and modified it to suit FPV and then bought and now flown a Skywalker, no comparison, go for the Skywalker. It is an excellent purpose designed FPV platform, end of story.
EasyStar, Skywalker V2, X8, Zephyr II, FPVraptor, Spidex, ZMR250, DG300. Eagle Tree stuff.

Skywalker it is then  ;D
Will have to acquire one for the summer then... I know there was talk of a glassfibre version, did that ever make an appearance?

Yeah hobbyking do the GF version. Not heard of anyone flying one.

Im ordering mine next week :)

I've read some stuff over on RCG RE the GF skywalker alike, the main comments were its heavy and thus needs to fly faster to stay comfortable than you avergae fpv ship.

Unless it had wheels for runway use I dont think I'd get one, knowing the HK GF quality it'll prolly be brittle and crack/split at the slightest knock. The trouble with wheels is you need a runway or similar which most of us out cast FPVers dont have.

Just checked HK as I like the look of their EPO Global Hawk (if only I could think of a neat way to add a pusher, EDF is so wrong!)

Flying wait of the GF SW thing is stated at 2kg and I bet thats without all the FPV gear!

i agree about edf - there are lots of nice edf airframes about but i would take the edf unit out of all of them and fit a nice powerfull pusher

Dam! Like most other decent looking planes from HK, they seem to be on back order. I fancy one as well!

Do you think its poor planning on HK's behalf or just that people are buying like mad?

Ive asked to be notified when they come back in - keep you posted.
