Well what a great sunny day!

Got out before the postman arrived so had no 7x6's but was a great day. Pitty the vid did not work :/

Then got back and tried my 7x'6. Little rocket! But on a  vertical dive the wing mounts came out of the plane. I'll learn to use ply and not be so cheap! went strait in, killed a battery, esc seems okay. No fires thats the main thing! Fuse is totalled but the wings fluttered to the ground safe with the rtx. Lost the camera though, thats the most annoying thing, if it would have survived the crash...

Live and learn!

So, how fast has anyone gone then....

I've been through the posts on this 'speed challenge' and can't find any mention of what speed is currently the FPVUK leader.

Hmm, in that case I'm claiming my 91mph in my Roo on 3S, level flight cross wind

I know.... easily beaten but for the moment I am claiming podium cos no one else has stood up to be counted (thought Pasty or Angelos would have)

Oh, and apologies if I've missed the current max speed in the previous posts.

Dammit!!! I've only got to 65, I'm sure my wing will go 80 as it is... in a vertical dive that is. I'm gonna get this motor: http://www.giantcod.co.uk/epower-hl2832-1600kv-class-brushless-helicopter-outrunner-p-405116.html

Should be interesting on a 7x6 folder... I darn well hope I'll be able to crack 100 with my wing. I can build a model like yours Pasty and Gary in no time too, I even have all the stuff, but I have no second FPV system to go on it and don't want to rip it off of the wing...

Oh well, I'll just have to get more money then :).

He he !

I need to do something to get to the magic 100mph first....

No cheating with diving or downwind, all mine will be level flight after a turn in and cross wind so no wind help, trouble is I dont know enough about motors and props to sort out what would be an 'upgrade' on my Turnigy 2836  2350kv running on 3S (I think it will take 4S but I dont have any 4S lipos)

yay! get involved paul!

You are the fpv speed record holder.... for now :D

Myself and gary have done 80-90 with our little speedys, but that was pre fpv gear, I'm yet to properly fpv mine and we havent had a speed reading (using doppler) for garys now deceased speedy (:().

My speedy is ready to go so I'll set a speed today just to get me on the board, I'm not expecting much, maybe 80.... we'll see :D

pk-surfing

Go for it Steve, it will be great if you can nudge it up by a couple of mph more....

This could get quite addictive (and damaging on the pocket!) cos I'm not sure how well made my Roo is for these speeds, the last landing on Fri spun it round and gave it a bit of a graze on the underside from yet another hidden rock but it wasn't until I got it home that I noticed one of the elevon control horns had pulled right out of the foam leaving a perfect 10 x 10 square hole.

I've now epoxied in a bit of 1/8" balsa (on both horns) and reinforcing tape top and bottom but it does make you think what sort of buffeting forces are being experienced by the plane.

The Roo is quite a 'screamer' after just flying my EZ* and SW but really smooth to fly at around 30 to 40mph speed.

Can't wait to see videos, my flight from Fri was recorded on Ian's recorder cos I left mine at home, and Ian was good enough to edit the video so I could post the link.

What's the weather like down your way today ? dull overcast up here and just started to rain.

I'm sure your Roo should be good for 140 (probably more) without needing to strengthen anything, you simple need to strap on more watts :D

We've got rain due for the avo with it clear each side, I'm hoping to get out shortly before the rain arrives and wets the ground.

Will report back later :)

I think a magnet or something has let go, I got some grinding coming from the motor... that'll teach me from putting it in an oven (AKA a ventless nose).

Gives me a good excuse to buy another tho :D

pk-surfing

I've just ordered a Turnigy 2836 - 3200 to try in the Roo (this motor is out of stock just now)

should be interesting to see what difference if any it will make.

I'm a bit stuck on what motor to try next  :-\

FPVSteve

I keep lurking in this thread - any recent vids?

Pasty

I havent done a vid for a while, I got loads of footage but have been put off by all the anti FPV monkeys... The only way to get footage from the speed stuff is from the flight cam and I cant record from my vrx. :/

I managed to get one reading of 96mph. It took several passes to get even one reading as our planes are to quiet for the mic to pick up properly over the wind. No idea how accurate that speedorc thing is tbh!

I'm done with the speed machines for now, i need a different project... A general hack/utility plane is on the cards. Landing gear, pan  and egg dropper maybe :D

Pasty

that speed wasnt flown by FPV tho was it?

I'm on the Ute (TM) too (migth start it tonight), thinking of going twin motored for extra punch and drag :D

fpv nick

is this strait line speed or dose it could out of a dive ? i can get 100mph out of a dive ;D
i think we need video evidence of any clam
