I've managed 105mph today with my Roo, video is taking ages to upload to Vimeo so it might be tomorrow before it gets posted up on the forum.

Made one of the lads at the field jump cos he had his back to it as I came screaming over the field.

It's difficult to be accurate with the speed cos I think we are all GPS based with the OSD's, I'm using EZOSD but in the same flying session it showed 0mph when I was doing a long vertical climb.

Go Paul!

I'm using doppler to check my speed as I dont have gps on my little speedy, the GPS will only give you ground speed when on the flat, the long you stay flat the more accurate it gets me thinks.

as new member to the forum well done paul

Nice! But that was a definite dive in roo!  ;)

Hi Gary,

you are right, I dropped about 100ft I think but wasn't letting the speed build up very much, it was when I levelled off that I opened the throttle wide open and accelerated at a rate of knots across the patch (that's John with the heli just spooling down)

I'll give it another go on Friday (weather permitting) and see if I can hold it flat and over the magic '100' for longer, I know what you mean though  :)

I wasn't really getting into this speed thing but thought I would wind up some of the main players in the speed stakes by jumping in with at least something.... there wasn't even anyone claiming the speed record with an EZ* doing 30mph !

I'm well expecting to get blown away big time as there is some serious effort being put in by 'others' on here who are keeping very quiet at the moment.

I think we should have all sorts of posts on here just for fun, as long as people can see the situation prevailing, i.e diving, etc

Pasty, whats this Doppler Gun thing you have then (I want one)

It sound very high tec / expensive, or have you nicked it from the back of a police car !

Let me know where you got it from cos I can see everyone is going to be getting very 'picky' about these speeds... I somehow think that when Angelos kicks in with his overpowered bit of ceiling tile its going to be 'goodbye Vienna' for my 15 minutes of fame !

When are you getting airborne with yours to log a speed ?

Snowy,

FPV on a heli was what got me interested in FPV in the first place, then the lads on here said start with a plank so thats when the EZ* was put together, and I'm glad I didn't go heli straight away.

Knowing your advanced skill level with the helis it's going to be you trying it b4 me...... I'll have to think about fitting a camera and Vtx to either my Trex 450 Sport or on the Raptor 50, I think the 450 leccy will be a bit easier on the vibration front.

Definitely this summer though.

Hi Ben,

Thats what I like to see, we need more pics or bits of video showing speed...... I'm not bothered if it in a dive or whatever just interested how fast we are flying without bits falling off.

The serious speed challenge thing does have to have a bit of fair play with it and needs to be level flight and cross wind, mine was after a short shallow dive (about 100ft) and had maybe 5mph help with the wind, whilst I think it will do 100 level I dont think much more with the motor in it.

I have ordered an upgraded motor, I think its called a Wren MW54 so just need to sort out how to mount it.
