That vid makes it look much faster, I've done 100mph with my scout bee after a dive and it really doesnt feel that fast or hard to control... its a real rush busting ground at that kinda speed :D

To be honest I dont know what I'm going to get with this setup but its going to be interesting to see how much I can get and I've got no apprehension about being able to fly it.

If it doesnt go fast enough I'll try more power :)

Coyote

Heres how to work out your true max speed. Its a listens to the motors sound and works it out from there. Very accurate

Your video has to be recorded from the ground though
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

calling Angelos... Ian mentioned you too are looking at a bit of speed FPV...

*throws down his gauntlet*

Lets see what we can do!.... only rule is the speed needs to be measured on the flat after a flat turn... no dives.

I here you got way more power than me... almost double!  I hope my homebrew airframe, lack of drag and more efficient prop placement makes up for my lack of poke... if not I'll get me some more power  ;D

Pasty

oh and to make a more impressive video it must be flown at less than 10ft  :P

That would be cool. Maybe a race at FPV Bounce?  BTW, my FunJet Ultra just arrived today. I intend to make it fast but not necessarily the fastest possibly. I may choose a motor with a bit of compromise on speed to get efficiency and a bit longer flight times.

This is the motor I've got in my wing. Running a 7x6 prop.

Hmmm... So who is going to reach 200mph FPV style first?

Actually, I think I might just hold the LOS record here... I've flown a Boomerang Elan at 200mph before...

game on!

If I make FPV bounce I'm defo up for a race, pylon stylee...

Pasty

reet... tonight is the night when things start happening...

First up Wing cores cut, slap in the spars, whack in the sub te ready for some balsa ailerons, I'll sheet some blue foam to make a light box fuz with a set of balsa tail surfaces... job done :)

Sheldon Holy

Oooh. Sounds interesting.

Can I challenge you on this? If I won I would be very :).

progress...

I went for a wing section and plan form (shortened) that was to hand, its TP42, a symmetrical aimed at aerobatic gliders, its thin so we'll see how it performs, I would have probably liked a bit less root chord.

A low wing so that I got plenty of space up top for mounting camera and video gear.

Thats a 3s 2200 lipo to give you an idea of size, its got a 32" span.

Not bad for an afternoons work is it... Oh... estimated weight is 500-600g all up, its 400g at the moment without final wing work and video fear.

Pasty

I've changed the thread title to open this up as a general FPV speed fun thread.

Just a bit of friendly fun...Lets see what we can do!

Come on Angelos.... get involved... what you got building and what you aiming for?

I'm sticking with my original ethos of seeing what I can get out of my current pack size of 3s 2200.

Pasty

Ok, we have a name...

you ready for this?!

Project Go Well Quick  ;D

Go Well Quick 1 is a pure raw test bed for the concept, power train, planform and wing section.

I've already got plans for Go Well Quick 2, it'll have an enclosed motor with spinner upfront to reduce alot of the forseable drag around the square blunt nose, I'm going to look into faster wing sections and look at a higher aspect ration wing.

looks good mate, :) get a fan in front of it and get some smoke going over it see were the drag is.
