I've changed the thread title to open this up as a general FPV speed fun thread.

Just a bit of friendly fun...Lets see what we can do!

Come on Angelos.... get involved... what you got building and what you aiming for?

I'm sticking with my original ethos of seeing what I can get out of my current pack size of 3s 2200.

Top secret! Rockets below the wings and everything!

Just kidding, I think I will go for something mid-range to keep it efficient and get longer trips. So I don't think it will be one of the fastest funjets. I will be happy at 120mph+ if that helps to keep the trip distance a bit longer. If it makes no notable difference I am going for 200mhp+!

ehehe, I like cheeky naff names :)

bit more progress last night, sanded the tail surfaces all sleek, tail end stuck together, stuck the spars in the wing (3mm carbon tube opposed top and bottom), got the motor & ESC all wired up and tested (man does that motor scream).

Tonight its tart up the wing ready for servos and ailerons (sand, sub TE etc), light ply reinforcement to the wing saddle, PU varnish the balsa tail surfaces and attach to fuz, stick in elevator servo and link up.

onwards!

Hi, I'm steves speed crazed mate! I've introduced myself but have not posted recently.

We got a lot done last night. I'm onto final assembly as is steve. Things like wing mounting bolts and the like. They are looking spot on. 32" 650g (with fpv gear) speed machines with 2200 mah behind them!

Pasty

yeah, we're almost there...

My fuz is sorted, left do do is cut ailerons, mount wing servos and sort push rods, hopefully get that sorted later today.

Pics of the build to date to come.

Its a bit to windy for FPV, and the dynamic soaring is off slope...

Build time!!!!

Pitty its to windy for a maiden, where is that COFG calc...

Hows those photos coming along steve  :-\

I've just maidened mine out the back line of sight in 20-30mph wind!

Flies real good, its small so is twitchy! Gonna be a totally different ball game with this small fast thing!

Landing was uneventful!  ;D

Well here they are, straight forward simple airframes knocked together in a few hours, Garys is the same as mine apart from he went for a top wing and shaped his fuz a bit differently, we're running the same motors, packs etc.. they even came out the same weight (550g).

Initial pre FPV gear speed runs should happen today, we're going to try the Doppler software for smartphones that Ian linked to above.

The first milestone is 100mph on the flat.

I best get a second vTX ordered! :)

Wow! very nice, It takes me a few hours to open the box of a new kit let alone build one from scratch. Following this thread with great interest.

Pasty

we've scratch built for years, can build stuff like this with our eyes closed :)

We got out again this avo. I was getting no feedback from spedorc! Looked like it was going 120mph maybe.

Very twitchy at that speed so i think the cofg calc's gonna have to be a starting point. I'll try moving the battery forward some.

I'm very happy with it. A few nights work down steves workshop has given me a suberb line of sight plane. Very solid at half throttle and a lot of fun!

Sucess! Now to Speed FPV it!  :o
