Small correction here. The video was taken at the British Nationals (about 3 or 4 years ago). Dave Bishop did not do the commentary. How do I know? I was there and he wasn't.

I'm not sure why the video would put a big grin on your face. It was a serious loss due to pilot error, but mercifully no-one was injured.

45/90 Km. record

What about this FPV flight from yesterday ... 90km on less than 500mAh of motor battery consumption. Amazing.

Need to get that man a seat on the back of a flat bed and make him go for FPV round the world.

ouch, bet his bank balance felt that.

You can read a fuller account on this Forum :
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3773823/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

Page 1 - the link to Gordon Nichol's website is out of date.
Page 2 - has some pictures pre and post crash. You will get an idea of the size of the model.  :o
There is much speculation as to the cause of the crash but basically it was down to bad judgement to fly in those conditions, then allowing the model to bank too far over, beyond the authority of the flying surfaces to control. There is an old video of a full sized B52 doing almost the same thing. It was a known B52 problem.
He built a second version and crashed that too, although I think it may not have been a write-off.

That was a helluva great flight but would unfortunately be totally illegal in the UK. I thought the OSD was particularily informative without being cluttered. I winced a bit when I looked at the price on RangeVideo's website though. They have some nice kit.

I stand corrected,
The commentary still put a smile on my face though

I have the same OSD and it's awesome.  OSD + full autopilot/fly-by-wire/waypoints/return-to-home...  Pity we have to go abroad to do this sort of thing now...  Bit like our Olympic Pistol Shooting Team...  :retard:
