Cyclops Storm RTH questions?

One thing which bothers me about the Storm RTH, is that you can simply ignore it..

On my Quad (Naza based).. If it goes into RTH, its locked in RTH and you can't control it.

But on the Storm, even though you put it in RTH, you can still override it with the sticks.

So say RTH comes in because of range loss or low voltage, and you didn't realise, nothing stops you from re-taking control on the sticks.

I imagined an scenario where you went out of range.. RTH would kick in.. It would turn a bit.. Get back in range and you were still moving the sticks so RTH would be over-ridden..

Is there a way to "lock" RTH on? So that it does an RTH until you change to another flight mode.

As many of you know, I lost my WOT4 which had a Storm, and the best explanation is that the voltage got too low.. (although I am still not 100% convinced).. If so, why did RTH not kick in (perhaps my voltages were set too low?)? But even if it did, if I didn't notice, what stops me from continuing to fly and over-riding the RTH?

Hi Jon

I have a feeling they all work like that! I have been looking at most of the RTH FC units and the only setting that will keep it locked on the RTH setting is to turn the Tx off,

Here is a vid I came across whilst I was researching the T1000FC... its a classic "Got Mixed Up which way to switch on the RTH"

FPV Raptor with T1000FC+GPS - Pilot Error

I can imagine making the same mistake myself so that's why I am gonna set up my Failsafe Rx to select half throttle and switch in the RTH by default if I switch off the TX, I will do extensive testing before I need it in a real scenario!
Its the best I can do at low cost that I hope will work when I need it the most,

Until I have the RTH and Failsafe Rx installed I have made a decision not to fly FPV, Once back from holiday its top of the list  ;)

I will be as gutted as yourself if I loose my baby as I have invested a lot of time, effort and money, On the humorous side... If mine goes down I will need to hire a deep sea diving outfit to try and recover it lol

Cheers Ray.. Its a shame there isn't an option in the menus to allow the RTH to "lock" and then force you to toggle the flight mode switch to get it out of RTH.. What I found on the Storm is then when it enters RTH (for example you switch the TX off) you can easily take control again if you switch it back on. And that might be a good thing if you accidentally switched it off.. But if you had a range problem or low voltage, I would prefer that it came back and didn't give you chance to overlook that its trying to do RTH

Another option would be to have a big "RTH" flashing infront of your eyes.. That would certainly help.

In my case, I still don't know what happened.. But since the video seemed to stop.. And RTH didn't work (even though I tested it 3 times in that very flight) I can only assume that either the Storm failed.. Or I simply ran out of power.. And its not like I can go out and try agian to learn what happened.

I have decided to not give up.. I have ordered everything again and am going to rebuild a WOT4 V1.1.. Which will pretty much be the same as the last.. But this time I am going to keep it local and just enjoy it for what it is! But next time, I am going to do a lot more RTH/FS tests to be absolutely clear how it works!
