Hitec Optic 6 sport stick centering tension problem!

Hi Folks (it never rains but it pours with this TX of mine  :o ).....I have ran into a wee problem with the tension on the throttle stick centering tension...

My TX is setup as Mode 2 (left stick throttle) and I would like to set the throttle to centre for the use on the dji f550+naza m lite build that I will be doing this week...

I have read the manual and followed it to the letter, however... all works as it should when I pull back on the throttle stick and release, it returns to center... but when pushing up on the stick there is a fair amount of play before I feel it engaging and it won't return back to center at all.....

I reckon I must be overlooking something, but for the life of me I just don't know what............ there are a few vids out there concerning stick centering for the Aurora 9 (which is more or less similar to the optic 6 sport)...

any assistance you good peeps can provide would be most helpful as I haven't much hair left to pull out here...

The first problem there is when you say you release the throttle stick and it springs back to center. The throttle is not supposed to spring back to anywhere, there should be no spring on the throttle at all.

Only Rudder, Elevator and Aileron should spring back to center

How are you supposed to take a selfie while flying and tweeting then ? DJI put a spring on the throttle so it must be right ;)

Don't have a hitec radio, but I've found with others that if you have spring tension to loose you can get a fair bit of slop around centre, I'd try tightening up the spring tension to see if that helps.

Having said that I have to agree that having a centre sprung throttle is for cars and boats only, and much more sensible to actually spend a bit of time practicing moving your left thumb - its surprisingly intuitive once you get used to it ;)

I have attached a page from the manual as there is the option to change the TX from mode 2 to mode 1 , so therefore there would need to be springs fitted to both gimbals to allow for tensioning the sticks....

as I have said that I have managed to center the throttle stick, but there is a great deal of slop on the forward (up) movement of said stick...

Think I may have to purchase another TX unit as I'm also unable to set gps and compass location on the dji Naza......

I`m not sure what you are trying to achieve ? You want a transmitter that springs back to center stick ( ie 50% throttle )  instead of normal use ?

I had it set as per normal and the hex was all over the place, and the props kept spinning even when I throttled down.... may just be me not programming the esc's.

However I am also unable to toggle a 2 or 3 position switch 9 times to enter gps/compass home mode and then turn the hex 360 degrees x 2 to enable gps lock..

I have set up S3W flght mode switch on channel 6 and I am able to select GPS-ATTI-FAILSAFE in the NAZA software, but it makes no difference in the real world....

we hooked up a dji DR16 RX and a DJI DT7 TX to the system yesterday and the hex flew as if it was on rails.... just hovered in place even with strong winds...

must be the entry level Hitec 6 sport that is the weak link......... or perhaps it's just me......  :P :P :P :P

Sounds to me like you need are trying to re write the RC handbook. If you have a throttle that centres automatically it could potentially be very dangerous.

I will purchase the dji D7+DR16 RC instead..  :D
