Unless it sorts out anything that doesn't work on mine I'm leaving it well alone, if it ain't broke and all that ....... :)
Education and schoolin is good, but FPV is gooder :)

I know what you mean, updates give me the heebie Jeebies!
According to Cathay Stray "WOW boys I just heard something from Charles
If this works out, MFD will beat pure gold in value per ounce.
Keep fingers 'cross and wait for a new FW coming soon."

Also did you see the new Manual version 1.5?  Well written when compared with the FY41 etc

What do you guys think of the mfd autopilot? I've been half tempted by one for a little while....

I really like it, easy enough to setup, make sure RTH is not set while its on your table at home though ;) ;) lol

I agree with Ian. Very easy to set up. Clear well written manual. Great help from MFD with emails answered promptly and politely. Easy to understand tuning of pids all done via osd. Spare parts if you break it. Constant mods being worked on. EG new firmware to give servo travel and video volts. No complicated messing about with the ASI just plug and play.

One thing I don't get is the current sensor and the way to solder the gnd, I just thought gnd was gnd wether it was next to each other or several inches apart
Pic in the manual, I'll have to re solder mine now

Ground is ground Simon, but the PCB track on the current sensor is basically to thin to take >50 amps, so the track gets that hot it burns itself out. The track breaks, the lipo is then no long in the circuit, bye bye birdy :(

The mod ( if you can call it that ) to stop this happening is soldering the cables next to each other basically touching, this is so the current flows through the cables much thicker diameter instead of the PCB track. The track still has a connection to ground which it needs but the current flow freely.

The current sensor only measures the positive side so only needs to be linked to ground which is still is so then the problem is solved.

New mod suggests building the ground tab up with solder works as well. Also on the subject of ground Charles now suggest removing the black (ground) wire from the esc to totally eliminate a chance of a ground loop.

The ground wire from the ESC signal / bec cable, not the ESCape actual ground ;) That should be the same for any OSD with a current sensor though, not just MFD AP

No mate check the new manual version 1.5. He definitely chops the black wire from ESc to mf

Yes the black wire of the signal / Bec cable, not the main -'ve to the esc

Those resistor based current sensors are far from ideal TBH! Much simpler to use a hall effect current sensor. It's completely electrically isolated from the high current circuit so you can plug it in to your AP without a worry.   Also has lower internal resistance than resistor based ones. A win both ways! This one measures 100A, but you can get them for measuring anything from a few amps upwards.

Andy

So Obvious when you put it like that! Wouldn't work at all then!
